Memphis and Ryver - Duty Calls
Permalink Closed

Ash was a man who demanded and stuck to a fairly rigid schedule. Malcolm being brought into the house was a change, but not one that he minded overly. With a bit of tweaking to his usual time he made sure that he was there to see the man at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, both time recording the machine read outs on the chart at the end of the bed. He wasn't even entirely sure what the purpose of those read outs were, but it had been suggested by the lycan clinic as a safety measure so...there you go.

After jotting down a few notes on the chart he slipped the clip board back into its holder at the foot board of the bed. Pale hand closed on a blanket folded at the foot of the bed and he carried it over to the chair Ryver was curled up in asleep. The boy seemed loath to leave his brother for anything, and was an almost constant precence in the small room.

Earlier, when the boy had been awake Ash had asked him to keep an eye on Malcolm, to let Ash know if Bianca tried to do anything to him. Ryver, in typical fashion had seemed nonplussed by the odd order. Still, even with Ryver watching he didn't think Bianca would be able to contain herself for long against the urge to delve into whatever powers held Malcolm in sway. That was a shit storm that Ash didn't want to have to wade through.

With Ryver covered and Malcolms machines happily beep beeping away he left the room, closing the door quietly behind him. As he moved towards the kitchen and the smell of coffee (even late at night the pack house seemed to be a perpetual Starbucks of coffee drinkers) he pulled out his slim black cell phone and dialed up his Freki. The man had been doing a good turn at looking out for Evie, but Ash was about to pull him off telemetric duty and sic him on someone else. Poor Memphis.

<Beep> "Memphis. It's Ash. I need you to get in touch with Bianca. She's looking into Malcolms little problem and I want you to stick to her like glue. Help her out if you can, but don't give her too much breathing room. I don't want her getting herself in over her head mate."

Hanging up the phone he set it on the counter as he went in search of a coffee mug to pour himself a steaming hot cup of the most tar like coffee known to man. Just how he liked it. Memphis would watch Bianca, and Ryver would watch Malcolm. It was as close to a sefty net as Ash could get under the circumstances so he'd have to settle for that. Besides, wouldn't be the first time the Pack had been in mortal danger from strange unknown powers, they'd survive. He just didn't like the prospects.

-Ryver had been by his brothers bedside almost twenty four hours a day, and he could swear sometimes Malcolm spoke to him. Then again maybe that only happened while he was sleeping. In his dreams anything was possible and sometimes even................even what? His thoughts had drifted off as he'd started to doze in his chair and as his eyes snapped open he looked to find Ash near Malcolms bed once again.-

-With a relaxed sigh he greeted the Ulfric and watched what he was doing. Ryver trusted Ash but he was worried about all of this because he wanted to know what was going to happen. Usually he remembered what would happen. Right now though it was like he was coming up against a giant black nothing. A big ball of zero. It was notably frustrating. Listening to Ash he nodded tiredly.-

"Watch Malcolm. Keep Bianca away. Check check double check."

-Only thing that stopped him from saying checkerooni was the giant yawn that came from his mouth next. Ryver would be near Malcolm at all hours and if anyone tried to do anything funky hopefully he'd remember it before it happened. What he could do about it was questionable. Maybe just pull Malcolm out of the bed and hide him somewhere. What good was a comotose brother if you couldn't hide them somewhere......and then he was fast asleep for the night.-

-: Memphis had been with Evie most of the day. Call it guard duty if you wanted but he actually enjoyed the little pistol, and she didn't seem to mind his Taxi, which was a good thing. Better partnerships began on less. He was almost sad to see her go when he dropped her off with Anya. Car was a little more gloomy without her there that was for damn sure. Problem with Evie though was that she seemed to be pretty sneaky, and it seemed like everytime they left her alone for a second some collosal piece of shit fell down on the girls head. It wasn't an ideal situation. :-

-:Leaning back in the fucked up cushion of the cars seat he grunted slightly and rubbed up and down with a shoulder against the beaded seat cover on the Taxis drivers side. Feeling the itch subside he was watching Evie and Anya through the front windshield of the Taxi and wondering what they were doing for the day. Wondering too what he would be doing for the day now that that was over with. As if on cue he heard the sound of his phone from the dash board. :-

-:Pinching off the thick cigar stub between his fingers he pulled it from his mouth and reached up to grab the vibrating phone where it was making a ruckus on the fake leather dash. Of course by then his voicemail had kicked in, another reason to curse his phone service provider as he waited for the buzz that told him the person had left a message so he could give it a listen. What Ash was asking seemed like just the thing to fill in his off hours.:-

"Yea. Got it bossman. I'm on it."

-: Guttural voice spoke as he left a return message for Ash letting him know it would be done. Worse things to do than follow a hot red headed chick around all day. Or so he thought at the time. Putting the Taxi in reverse he headed back towards the Pack House to find Bianca and get the unpleasentness of telling her she was going to be watched out of the way. Sneak attacks didn't really work for Memphis. He did way better at head on collisions. :-
