A cool breeze stirred the underbrush, grasses rustling from the wind like fingers running along the ground. There was a stillness in the night, a stillness only the dead could muster, and as Solan moved through the graves, he remembered that he too was a part of the dead but one that would never be mourned. Long legs carried his body through the cobblestone path, black shoes clicking softly in a melodic rhythm that seemed so harsh amongst the silence of the graves. Perhaps he didn't belong here, shouldn't be here for fear of being possessed by a wandering soul, but those things never bother Solan. There was something about death that fascinated him, something he didn't have. Walking through the cemetery, eyes wandering over the tombstones of the fallen, Solan sighed. Most of these bodies were the newly dead, by his standards. They never would have known the sights he saw except from text books. That was not the way to live.
Fingertips danced across the etchings on the tombstones, tracing the lines that had been carved, listening for their stories perhaps. Most of the dead were human, or had started off human at least, and their tales were all different yet somehow very much the same. They had died.
Solan moved away from the newer graves, his undead body sensing the souls of the recently deceased and not wanting to be near them. Thinking to himself, he moved to a bench settled beneath an old tree, the long limbs creating a cascading canopy of shade over the bench even though it was evening. Lying across the bench, Solan closed his eyes. Thoughts and memories danced across his mind, the reminder that the blood he had taken earlier in the evening was just another willing human but not one that made his heart truly beat. Shrugging off the thought, Solan let his own power snake out reaching like his own cool wind throughout the grave. There were others nearby, humans, lycans, and the undead, but he made no move to approach them. For all he knew, they were just taking a shortcut through the cemetery to get to where they desired.
