It had been precisely twelve days, five hours, fourteen minutes and thirty-two seconds since the Healer had been scared from the door step of the mysterious man that she had dubbed only the Beast. Twenty seconds after being frightened from that doorstep, the Healer had decided that the Beast needed a friend, and that she was the one to be that very person. So, Lyliyana had decided the best thing a up and coming friend could do would be to make yummy desserts to entice the barely blooming bud of friendship that could blossom fully into a bloom of companionship, or die and rot horribly into the nothingness of loneliness.

So Lyliyana had set to work. She had tried to think of many different desserts the Beast may or may not like, and since she really had no interaction with him whatsoever, except for the eavesdropping of his piano music and the wandering into his garden only to be scared out again, she decided to just make all kinds and leave all kinds at his cottage, hoping he would like at least one kind she would leave behind.

Two days after she had made the decision to leave goodies on the doorstep of the quaintly overgrown cottage of the Beast, Lyliyana dared to near the property once more. Once more in broad daylight, she was accompanied by Sam the Were-rat. Sam thought the whole thing was a bad idea.

"I think the whole thing is a bad idea."

Lyliyana hushed the man, giving him a smile as she hefted the basket that was hefty with baked goods. "Of course you think the whole thing is a bad idea. Just because some strange Beast creature roars at me to stay away because I encroached on his music doesn't mean he's not a lonely beast creature who could use a friend and muffins."

Sam lowered his gaze to the blond healer, a rather sardonic expression crossing his face.

"When some strange Beast creature roars at you to stay away because you encroached on his music may or may not mean that he's a lonely beast creature who could or could not use a friend and muffins, probably does mean he wants you to stay away, as he has expressed so loudly with his roar."

Lyliyana straightened, her resolve apparent in the straightness of her spine and the slight tilt she gave to her chin to show that she was indeed, resolved. She looked rather cute in her white dress that had bright red poppies splashed across the pattern, making her tanned skin stand out even more.

"Maybe he was expressing his loneliness and grief at being lonely with the loudness of his roar." Seeing that he would get absolutely no where with Lyliyana in this argument, and that she was absolutely set upon giving him the muffins... "I'm absolutely set on giving him muffins." Sam the wererat merely sighed and stopped arguing with the girl.

And so it was that he waited at the gate while Lyliyana snuck through the garden with her basket and set it just outside the now closed door.

And so it had been done four times more, each time with a different treat. First it was muffins, then cookies, then cake, then brownies and lastly pie. Lyliyana was hoping it would be the pie that would open the man up to her.

Never one to give up hope, Lyliyana always had a smile on her face after each visit, knowing in her heart, or at least thinking she knew, that she was quite effectively wittling away at his defenses with her baked goods.

So intent on baking and delivering said goods to the man she called Beast, she had been completely unaware of what else had transpired at her home. It would be on this day, after her fifth visit to the quaintly overgrown cottage, that Lyliyana would return home and discover upon nightfall what tragedy had transpired between her best friend Solomon and her best friend Valentino.

-Time had passed since he's finished that pie. Since it had left it's lasting impression on his tastebuds. Often he would lie awake at night and think of pie, or the smell of peach tarts which lingered in his mind. It had been almost a week since the last visit Lylianna had paid and though he knew she had left in a huff it was beyond him to understand why.-

-Each day he sat at the window despondant, waiting for the girl whose simple treats could tempt even the taste buds of an angry beast. With his head leaned into his hands he whiled away the lonely hours thinking of what she might be doing. And it was true that he did find the hours lonely. Which hadn't been usual for him in the past.-

-It was as though contact with someone so light and sunshiney had suddenly cast his solitary life into a gloomy state. The piano played sour notes, and the gardens sweet smells were hollow somehow. Because out in the world somewhere was a bright daffodil in human form that he was missing, though he would never have admitted it allowed.-
