As he bunkered down in the makeshift deer blind to take his watch on the Church he was equally attentive to the Crone sitting beside him. Ariadne had always had a big case of keep to herselfitis, but she was getting particularly bad lately. The fact that just the two of them were on this hunt was a giant red blinking light that said something wasn't quite right.
"So why can't I...."
Before he finished the words she shhushed him. She'd been shhushing him all night. It was getting just a little old. His tongue flicked across the pointed edge of his fangs feeling the hunger rising inside him. He'd make it through the night watch, and then go on his own hunt during the day. There were places he'd found that catered to his particular needs. It cost, but it kept things cleaner, and doing it that way kept his happy shiny family from really having to know what was going on inside him. They all had secrets. Even him. This time he tried again in a whisper close to her ear as his black eyes kept trained through the trees and on the Church they were watching.
"Next time I'm joining the Justice League. I hear they have better benefits and don't shush their members."
Ariadne looked at him with those white opal eyes that said clearly if he didn't shut up she was going to introduce him to the business end of a stake. Nice, very nice. Then suddenly surveillance became more paramount. Earlier there had been a blonde that went in. They'd taken surveillance photos which he would later take back and run through their system to try to find a match, but now the woman was back...with something special in tow. Curiouser and curiouser. Looked like they'd be jumping down the rabbit hole today.
Her legs were cramping just a little. More from lack of activity than just because she was reaching her limit. With a shift of her ankle, the cramp alleviated a little more. Sitting in the deer blind, she watched silently. Or it would have been complete silence had it not been for Hannibal talking every few minutes. She had to shush him more than forty times, and as annoying it was to do it, she was sure it was more annoying for him to hear.
A slow lick of her lower lip with her tongue as she watched the doors. Opal white eyes watched, with the unnerving glare her people could accomplish so easily. and then he started again "So why can't I..." Shhhh! Before he could even ask the question. She was guessing he was about to ask why couldn't he ring up Trinity or even one of the twins to come help on the mission. Ariadne was pushing her limits. More and more she was running these side projects on her own. Only the larger things, like this with the Eternal Church did she ask for help. No, not asked, she just told Hannibal. Everyone else would be cannon fodder in Ariadne's eyes. If you want to catch a vampire, bring one. Of course Hannibal was more than just a half breed to Ariadne. He was in her strange way the closest thing she had to a brother and a best friend. Not that she would break down and tell him so.
Attention was brought back to the mission, in hopes that Hannibal was going to be quiet enough to let her focus. The doors only opened once to allow a blond in and then again to let her out. No one came in or out after that. She and Han had taken plenty of pictures to run in the data base later. For now, they sat quietly waiting and watching. It was until... "Next time I'm joining the Justice League. I hear they have better benefits and don't shush their members." Those white opal eyes turned to him. The shimmering of colors within the depths of them told of some darker fire within her that was so close to introducing him to Mr. Pointy. She'd miss his heart on purpose of course, but she just wanted him to get the 'point' of her shushing meant 'shut the hell up!'. Even before she could think to finalize the threat the sound of talking, the swagger of a brunette and the blond from before.
Eyes instantly went to the doors again. Her finger already on the clicking end of a camera hooked up to the laptop they had brought. They were going to go in tonight. Soon, soon. Ariadne could feel her blood boiling and her fingers itching to take up her sword and rush in guns blazing as it were.
