The night was cold, a perfect night for the Vatican to reveal the worlds largest Christmas Tree and their nativity scene, which would lead to Midnight Mass, that the beast had tickets too, and would seem unable to attend.
The lone wolf lay trapped on the frozen grass under some trees, his body shivering from the freezing temperatures that penetrated the wet fur. It didn't help that it had rained on the trapped wolf, then the temperature dropped to freezing levels, leaving him to try and withstand Father Winter's bite.
Eyes of the purest bronze opened a hair, his body quaking, but was quickly followed by a yip of pain as it seared down his front leg. He thought about actually chewing his leg off and trying to make it to somewhere safe, out of the sub temperatures and shifting.
Unfortunantly, somehow, he was locked into this form. He couldn't remember how, clearly that is. It had been a dream. Hadn't it? That enchantress, so beautiful, so kind....THE BITCH! A low growl formed, allbeit weakly, but he had enough anger left in him to get at least one growl out. Shifting his weight, a slight whine was released when he heard his bones grinding against eachother, forcing him to fall back, tongue lolling out to pant, trying to keep the pain at bay. How long would it be before anyone found him? He was in the woods, and he had been gone days already, trapped there to die. The hunter hadn't even come to check his traps, so why would anyone else be wandering the lands that belonged to Tino? Would anyone but Tino or Big C miss him when he didn't show up? No one else but Leni and Silent really knew him, so why would they? He was fucked.
Eyes slowly closed as the thought of chewing his leg off hit him again, survival instinct at its best. Gathering up what little strength he had left, he slowly pulled his leg towards him, teeth bared as they met his fur and flesh, the beginnings of setting himself free.
The week was going good, in fact most things had settled down nicely. The pack was back together, as it should be and the money from her destroyed art gallery had finally arrived. It now sat safely in her bank account making her more assure of herself, beside the large sum of cash that had been deposited by the buyer from Madrid of her Tattoo shop. Her bank account looked like she had barily touched it to help evacuate the wolves out of Hawaii. Antonio was a blessing, the new attorney who was handling her work here out of Rome so she wouldn't have to bother Michael at the most ungodly hours.
Although all things where going good, Loke found herself wandering the woods. It was easier to think, about what Ash had said in her beast form. The Beast knew and yearned after Marcus as much if not the same amount as the woman did. She had never once confessed to either Evie or Marcus just how much she cared or how she felt like a voyer, watching how much they loved each other. Muzzle was low to the ground as she paced along a game trail her stomach grummbling. It had been a long time since she was a wolf simply to enjoy the feeling of the earth under her feet and the wind in her fur.
Her path wasn't anything planned or expected, simply following her nose along different trails. Scenting here and there to signify the wolves territory, it wasn't until she came across the new scent that she paused to investigate. Nose tucked under some fallen leaves against a fallen tree that was very nearly termite food. The scent was a different wolf and it caused her to pause and lift her nose to the win, head tilting this way and that. It was faint, a warm new scent, very faint. Long dropped out of her mouth as she panted tasting the scent on her tongue as she lopped toward it.
It wasn't until she was almost on top of Toni did her ears perk at the whining and she crept forward trying to stay down wind. Those amber eyes gazing out of the darkness as she tasted blood on the wind. Those beastly eyes took in the situation before a chuff was given, a type of greeting before she crept forward slowly as not to startle the trapped wolf. Ears perked and tail high she didn't move in submission, rather in ease as she paced to his field of vision and lifted her nose snuffling at the air, his scent rich along with the smell of blood.
It wasn't until she was sure the other wolf could see her and wouldn't react stupidly that she shifted. The liquid like shift was easy after so many years, and she stood. Her bare skin was steaming heat as she stepped forward, hands held outward in a very none aggressive motion.
"Stay still, let me help you out."
Taking it very cautious because she knew very well any move like that would cost the wolf his leg. Hands reached down very careful that his teeth didn't take a chunk of her flesh with it before she pried the trap open with a faint grunt. Hands shifting to break it so it stayed open, before she carefully pulled the torn and bitten up leg off the metal of the trap.
Those amber eyes stayed focused on the wolf, as heat rose along her spine. The faint hint of fresh cut hay in her nose as MayBell hovered within her, wanting to breath through her lips and heal the wolf.
Lyliyana had been settling into Rome nicely. She had a flat in town, paid for by her trust fund, and shared it with Mr. Bubbles, Solomon and her many stuffed friends. She continued her evening walks to get used to the new country. Sometimes with Solomon, sometimes without as he was out looking for a job, or maybe he already had one. Lyliyana wasn't quite sure. But she knew Mr. Bubbles wanted him to get one so he would stop hovering so around the bubbly blond. Lyliyana did not mind, however. She rather enjoyed his company and found him absolutely delightful.
After a couple of weeks, she'd tired of wondering the streets and set her sites on the country side. This would be Mr. Bubbles and her third time out in the woods, this time without Solomon. Lyliyana had been practicing her mental powers as of late. Seeing the movie X-men had given her some ideas. A lot of them were quite ludicrous, according to Mr. Bubbles, but he didn't say so of course, and it didn't stop Lyliyana from trying. She had sat, in their hotel room, a few nights past now, with Mr. Grey in her lap. Her mind had enveloped and enhanced through the gem hidden within the stuffed animals abdomen and she went out, mentally, to see if she could actually travel or sense other minds in a larger radius, rather than those that were just within the room with her. She hadn't had too much luck the previous nights, but tonight was different! It was Christmas! Maybe Santa would give her a present of whatever it was she was trying to do. After all, she had baked him some rather delicious cookies that had disappeared in the night.
And so she had tried again, and that was what had brought her and Mr. Bubbles to this particular part of the wood.
"Come on Mr. B, over here. There's an angel up ahead." Lyliyana's whispered statement was followed by a quieted giggle as she skipped ahead. As she crept closer, she heard the whimpering noises, and a hand came to her lips, which had formed a small 'o.' She had sensed a high level of distressed thoughts in this area, unable to pick up anything else from anyone. But she had taken it as a sign of something, or rather, someone that she needed to investigate and or help. Hector followed just behind her, a silent stalker in the night, making far less noise than Lyliyana, which was to say none at all. Lyliyana stilled her excited movements, and crept forward, pushing aside the brush to reveal the backside of Loke hovering over the wolf and trap.
"Stay still, let me help you out."
"Ohmigoshyournaked!"
Lyliyana exclaimed as her hand lifted to her eyes, shielding her pale teal hues. Even so, she had recognized Loke's voice, and had hoped to surprise her with her help. Except, she was naked and gooey. She knew it hadn't been Loke's distress she had felt. No, it had been the puppy doggy that she was trying to help. Lyliyana had never picked up the thoughts of a doggy before, so this whole entire experience was new. Unsure of what to make of it, she shut off her mind to the openness it had, but still, that odd sensation of a metaphysical warm hug enveloped both Loke and the doggy.
Hector moved forward, his jacket already shrugged off to drape across Loke's shoulders. Lyliyana carefully peeked through her fingers, and satisfied that Loke was more decent, she lowered her hand, her pale teal hues settling on the doggy. Without hesitation, Lyliyana hopped over, kneeling before the doggy, hand reaching out to scratch him behind the ears. Maybe this was her Christmas present! A doggy! Immediately that fuzzy, emotional healing magic calmed the animal, the pain seeping away as she dulled it with her touch. But she did not heal it, could not, as she was very unsure how to. But she knew who could! Gaze lifted to Loke, smiling brightly.
"Miss Loke I know just where we can take Odin." There she had gone, already giving the animal a name. It was one that Lyliyana thought Llidya would like too. Llidya had raised wolves, lots of them. And she had helped lots of them too. She would help her with her new puppy doggy, she was sure. "Our car is just over there. Come with us!" With that Lyliyana rose and stepped aside, allowing Hector to bend and lift the oversized animal in his arms, starting towards the vehicle. Lyliyana took up Loke's hand, fingers entwining with hers as they followed. "This is the best Christmas present ever!"
Llidya had been enjoying her newly finished house. The place still smelled like fresh paint. It was as large as any of the previous houses had been that she had constructed, houses that she had never slept in. No, she'd made the main house, and then she'd make the Warehouse for the projects. She'd sleep in an upper alcove of the warehouse, and the scientists and researchers always got the house itself.
Enjoying was a bit of an overstatement. As she walked from room to room, she wondered why she hadn't made it a normal sized house. She wasn't even entirely sure she would get the docs and Dream Team out here to work on her most favored project. Well, there was always that chance. Maybe subconsciously she was thinking they'd start working on the big stuff again. If so, they'd have to build the Warehouse. Warehouse 23. Or maybe the Syndicate would show up and need a place to crash. They did, sometimes. But they hadn't called her as much lately. She'd been out of the game a long time. And now that she was a werewolf...well she was probably more a hindrance to the team than a help.
Llidya stopped in her kitchen, Bahamas-clear water blues taking in the new appliances, the new paint job, the new dishes. It all seemed so homey. It made her want to puke. A scowl crossed her face, that heat rising again as she got so pissed off at everything again. It was quick to rise, and easy to feed.
This time of year, when she actually was twenty four ten years ago, she'd been with the Syndicate. Well, she'd actually be NYPD, but she'd taken vacation to do a job with the them. They'd just finished a cleanup at a facility in Pakistan. Mags had flown them home, dropping Llidya off at an airstrip in upstate New York. She'd been driving the Judge then, and had raced home to get to the Warehouse...the number had been 19 then. She had missed the party with the eggheads and their exchange of gifts, but she hadn't minded. Nope, she'd just wanted to crash and sleep all day at Christmas, spending time with her wolves. She'd been able to purchase a large enough chunk of land to bring the pack with her then. But not now, and she missed them sorely. Especially Genghis, the old trickster. There was nothing like playing around with a bunch of lupines to make a person feel good. Three square meals a day, a lot of love, and you had a companion for life.
Maybe she could get a dog. Nah. It wasn't the same.
"Llidya!!!"
What the hell? Was that Lyliyana? What the hell was she doing here?
"Llidya! Come quick!"
Llidya hopped down the stairs two at a time and skidded to a stop just inside the kitchen. Blood hit her nose and she froze for a second as her analytical mind took over. There was Hector, Lyliyana's vampire, holding a really huge wolf. Who was bloodied, broken leg maybe? And Lyliyana was hopping from one foot to the other, a her brow furrowed as she nibbled her lip in worry. And that Loke chick...was she naked? Wearing only Hector's jacket. What the hell was going on? Her beast rose at the scent of the blood, but Llidya, stubborn as she had claimed to be, well that was proven true. Adrenaline kicked in as she realized she had stuff to do, and that over took any instinct to shift. Not to mention, she was sure, Lyliyana's little magical aura shit that she did was helping. She pushed her sleeves up, reaching the kitchen table in two steps and clearing it off in one swipe of her hand. A loud clang as the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer hit the floor. In the back of her mind she made note she was probably going to have to buy a new one.
"What happened? Lyl, go grab my kit out of the pantry there. Set him on the table here Hector."
Llidya spoke the orders with a tone of command that she'd used for years in the military. Hector stepped back after he laid the animal down, and Llidya held up the leg, getting a snap towards her from the wolf. She growled at it in response, not even realizing she was doing it before she quieted. It was broken, sure enough. It was a clean break, it only needed to be set to heal proper. The worse part was where the animal had begun chewing it's leg off to heal. Cost the creature a lot of blood. "And crank up the heat in the Red Room. Shit, the first room on the right!" She yelled after Lyliyana.
"Found him in a trap, attempting to free himself, as you can see. Had silver on it, so this hunter was definitely after lycans." Llidya glanced over as Loke held up one hand with a couple of inflamed cuts on it. She nodded, concentrating on the leg again. By now, Loke had positioned herself at the animal's head, trying to soothe the beast and keep him from jerking, without much luck. More force than comfort was being used.
Lyliyana returned, dropping a bag on the table. Llidya unzipped it as the blond moved to stand next to Loke, stroking the animal's face. This seemed to calm him a bit more, but Chapman wasn't paying too much attention. She pulled out the tramadol and injected a shot in the affected area. She glanced up to give Loke a look that said, here we go. And then she set the leg. The whole creature jerked and let out a terrible whimper. She grimaced as she put pressure on the leg, and worked the stint around it. Tape was held between teeth as she pulled tight, feeling the beast jerk beneath her again. She just shook her head, and after about fifteen minutes that seemed eternity, she was finished.
Llidya took a step back, thinking this was a hell of a way to christian her kitchen table. A questioning look was given to Lyliyana, who continued to pet the animal. She was grinning ear to ear, that brightness she gave off swimming just above the surface, but more controlled than it used to be.
"I knew you could fix my Christmas present."
Chapman's gaze shifted to Hector, who of course, revealed nothing, and then to Loke, who could only shrug. "Hey...you want some clothes?" Llidya thought to offer, having forgotten about that fact with everything that was happening.
The wolf heard the rustling, growling with little effort as he gnawed on the partially chewed paw, the glazed over eyes searching to see where the noise was coming from. That was when he scented the bitch. Teeth remained sunk into the foot, though he paused for a moment as thw she wolf came into sight. A low growl in warning as her nose remained high, obviously scenting him. Tony's mind was murky in pain, alpha instinct taking over as her head dipped to approach him slowly. He was in pain, and if this bitch hurt him ...
Release of his foot was quick as the wolf shifted into human form, teeth barred quickly as she came closer yet, ready to strike. He had no clue who this woman was, not giving thought to the fact she might be pack. All he wanted was to be free. Her voice was distant in his ears when she spoke, tongue rolling back out to pant then back in as he tried to growl again. As she released his leg, he was quick to jerk free, trying to stand, but unable to really get that far. Falling back to his belly, he tried to lick the damage that he had caused himself, as well as the trap, but his vision was seeming to fade quickly.
That was when he caught the scent of blood, not his, but ... eyes snapped open as he heard the surprised voice of a child, a low bark in warning as she neared. A better glimpse of the blonde revealed not a girl, but a full grown woman dressed much like a girl. He just didn't have the energy for this bull shit. He laid down on his side, more like flopped, because he just didn't have it in him to fight any more.
The girl moved towards him, like she had no care to the fact that the so called wild wolf was wounded. He felt the warm fuzzy power roll through him, allowing him to huff slightly, though eyes fell closed when the soft hand moved through the matted and frozen fur. He wanted to growl once more, but it just couldn't form.
Lifted up, he yipped and snapped in pain, though not making contact with the fucking vampire that was carrying him, growling the whole way. Mother fucker hurts me more, I swear to God, I will gnaw his fucking leg off, mother fucking fang face.
He didn't remember much of the ride to where ever it was they were taking him, the girl having named him "Odin", but the thought of speech hadn't entered his mind yet, mostly because the girl was trying to keep him relaxed by petting him and whispering softly in his ear that everything would be alright.
My ass.
He was carried into a warm home, the tiny girl yelling making him wince, his head pounding now. That wouldn't be all though. When the woman injected him, he all but wanted to laugh, because that shit wouldn't phase him. It didn't matter, because when Loke grabbed him to try to keep him still, he went ape shit. Growling, scratching, trying to bite as the woman grabbed at his leg.
Everything went black when the red head rebroke his leg, the pain too much for any one to take. Laying there, his sides heaving, trying to push it all out of his mind, though the wolven tears weeped onto the soft thawed muzzle as he watched the tiny girl try and comfort him.
Lyliyana had gathered all the blankets she could find, and thrown them into a giant heap in the Red Room, as Llidya had called it. Softly humming to herself, she arranged the fluffiest, softest pallet she could. There were at least six blankets all rolled over one another ontop of the already fluffy carpet. She had debated on using the bed that was in the room, but she wasn't sure if Llidya liked the idea of the dirty doggy on the clean sheets. She remembered, barely, that her own mother had kept everything pristine and would have a fit if she'd come into the house with muddy shoes. But that was a long time ago. And Llidya was more lenient...as her own mom wouldn't even let her have a house puppy, much less a doggy from the woods.
Lyliyana had watched Loke and Llidya wander off to get the Hawaiian some clothes and wash up, and Lyl had had Mr. Bubbles move Odin oh so carefully to the pallet she'd made. He was still sleeping it seemed, which was for the best in her opinion. It seemed he'd been through a rough few days, and needed all the rest he could get.
"Thank you Mr. B. Maybe you should go home and tell Solomon where I am. He's going to be so excited!" Lyliyana told him in a bubbly whisper. She didn't want to wake her puppy doggy, after all. Hector turned to leave, if only because he knew Llidya was just as protective, if not more so of the bubbly blond than he was. Lyliyana gave him a great big good bye hug, which of course, the vampire barely reacted to, before he exited the premises. With that done, Lyliyana moved back into the Red Room. She picked up a few more blankets and carefully laid them over the doggy, completely missing Llidya's checking in on her with a shake of her head.
Lyliyana made sure Odin was snug as a bug before she pulled a few pillows around herself, a yawn finally passing her lips. Solomon was just going to be so pleased, she was sure.
"Don't worry Odin. We're going to have lots of fun, and you'll like Solomon and Mr. Bubbles...I'm sure of it..." She whispered as sleep overtook her, snuggled up next to the wolf to make sure he was warm and safe.
Picking at her burning hands she had the urge to lick at them even in her human form. Silver was a motherfucker but she couldn't very well leave the wounded wolf in the trap and let him gnaw his own leg off. It was only when they had splinted the leg and she had received a few choice bites from the wolf did she finally back off. She gave a nod to Llids not feeling uncomfortable with her nudity. The little blonde, Lyl was so shocked upon first finding her that she couldn't help but chuckle at the memory. Glancing up she saw Llids watching her as she pushed MayBell back to the back of her mind, that insistant nagging to follow the wolf was there.
"How you been Llids? Didn't think I'd see you around here."
And then she finally realized something, Llids didn't just feel like a wolf anymore she had a wolf now. This woman was a medical miracle. Wait until Malcolm found out about this.
"I don't like the fact someone is setting traps out there, I mean bear traps are bad enough but silver traps. That doesn't sit well in my stomach, gonna have to let the Ulfric know."
Loke had taken the offered clothing, pulling it on. Rather she tried too, the pants didn't fit, she had to settle for a pair of sweat pants that seemed to fall way to low on her hips because of her ripe tush. She shook her head at Llydia, before giving a tug at the hem of her pants, trying in vein to cover the swell of her rump up. She had followed behind her as she moved through the house only to find herself leaning against the doorway of the room Lyl had dominated and made into her "doggy care".
It wasn't until Loke had a very long talk with Llydia and enjoyed a cup of cocoa that she decided to hunker down with the injured wolf. Although to do that she had to be in wolf form herself, assuming it would keep him calm when he woke and found another wolf beside him, aside from the crazy blonde. Pants and t-shirt where pulled off and left inside beside the pile of blankets before she trotted outside and let the heat rise within her limbs and spread outward. Like flowing water the changed happened, arching her tail backwards she yawned and finally gave herself a wild shake before nosing the door open and kickng it shut with her back foot.
Nose high Loke moved through the house back to the "red room" before digging a claw into the blankets that the wolf was laid upon. Odin Lil had called him, she was cute but sometimes Loke just wanted to shake her till her teeth rattled around in her head. She licked at her muzzle before her fluffy black body settled down beside the length of the wolf, nose touching at his leg. Tongue snaking out to lick at it, it was natural for her to walk to lick a wound clean even if he wasn't like her. For all she knew he was some wild wolf that had been in the wrong place at the very wrong time. After it was sufficiently cleaned at least by her standards she tucked her nose against his leg and let her amber eyes disappear behind her lids.
