Jane had finally caved in. She hadn't wanted to do it. The thought made her slightly ill. But her fingers moved with a mind of their own as she started dialing the office in California. That's where most of the people fled from Hawaii that of course didn't come to Rome. The time difference of nine hours. Jane waited for a good time to call the offices before going to sleep. Not that she won't be in bed till really late anyway. Using the money from the hotel/casino Scott owned was just, low. He was her dead ex-husband. Then again if he didn't leave her as next of kin she couldn't have done it.
A woman's voice answered the call. Jane explained who she was. The woman seemed to be a little more alert after Jane said Scott's name. For whatever reason she figured he had scored with the woman on the other end. A few small chit chat of how wonderful Scott Masters had been. Jane mumbled her responses and faked more of the pleasantries. No disrespect of her dead ex, she just needed to get this over with little to less guilt about doing it. The paper work was set in motion after half an hour of all the legal jargon. It was almost two hours before all the papers were processed and the money was on the way to Rome.
Jane hung up with a sick feeling in her stomach. It was worth it. At least she had some money, and her Ma and Pa were sending her bike over. She'd pay them back after she made some cash. Pushing from the desk, the paper with the poker tournament falling to the floor. The neon yellow paper with the black witting announcing Rome's something or other tournament for poker players. Jane knew that game. She was no pro, but she could hold her own. Having already made a grand a few nights ago with a fifty to start her off. If Lady Luck stayed by her side Jane planned to win this tournament, and then the next four before she could buy a nice little villa with her dream bathroom.
