Lips compressed in a thin line as she surveyed the layout of her room. There were only a few pieces of furniture that she had absolutely refused to let go. A chest at the end of the queen sized bed, the papasan chair and stool, and the dark wood armoire. A slight shake of her head and she moved over to the armoire, wrestling it closer to the wall while it was still filled with the clothing she’d already unpacked. Stepping back, she gave a slight sigh. It would work for now.
Attention drifted to the only box that was left to unpack. Fingers drifted over the cardboard, pulling the box open to unearth the picture frames on top. The first was of Ginny, which she set on the bookshelf by the papasan chair. Following that were one of her parents, one of her grandparents, one of Lyric, and one of Silent and Ash. She continued unpacking the box of knick-knacks, placing them on the bookshelf.
With the last of the unpacking finished, the vixen curled up on the papasan chair and rested her chin on her fist. Lashes drifted down, shielding the green gaze as she turned thoughtful. It had felt good to stop their journey and be near Silent again. The familiar scents and the swamp wolf’s cooking had felt like nothing had changed… apart from the distinct lack of certain individuals.
Eyes opened and she stood, moving to the end of the bed where her boots sat. Pulling them on, she zipped them up and grabbed her cell, keys, and wallet. She had left the house a few times to familiarize herself with the immediate area, so she knew where to find what she was looking for. The roar of the Corvette started soon after she’d closed the front door behind her.
Memphis had had the right idea. A few drinks should help to numb the rawness and ease her nerves. However, she didn’t feel like having company when she drank, so first things first.. she needed to get a few bottles of her favorite liquor. It was a pity that the Italians liked their wine so much, but the liquor wasn’t completely absent. So, the vixen went shopping for ‘essentials’ as she called them. Oh, she didn’t plan to over-do it, but something had to be done about the wire taut nerves before she snapped.
When she got back to the house, she had to juggle the three paper bags in order to get the door open. The others were no doubt getting more familiar with their new home, so she stopped in the kitchen only long enough to grab a glass before she returned to her room. The bottom shelf of the bookshelf would do quite nicely for her stash of liquor. Apricot brandy was poured nearly to the very top of the glass before the bottle was set aside.
So it was that if anyone went looking for Lexi, they’d find her sitting in the papasan chair with the level of brandy in her glass steadily falling. Too bad the lycanthrope metabolism kept her from getting drunk unless she truly worked at it. Surely no one could fault her for indulging after everything that had happened. And if they did… well, that was something she’d deal with if it came up.
Loke knew Silent would be busy with Hakim so she took it upon herself to bath Winter, although she had yet to wake the woman up to feed her. A cleaning would do nicely first and then food. Although by the way the woman's stomach kept growling it sounded angry at Loke for making that choice. Once the tub was filled with water and she could leave Winter to soak in the hot water and loosen the grime and dirt she could come back and clean her up. Nose worked a mile a minute as she looked for some poor sucker to help.. err.. a loving soul to help. Lexi heheh, I smell you.
Fingers came up to rap softly against the door frame before Loke peeked her head inside the Vixen's room. "Hey Lexi, can you help me for a bit? I need some help washing this woman who fainted on me." Well if that wasn't an openner for a list of questions Loke didn't know what was. Loke flashed a big grin to her newest tenative friend before she waited for an answer or ten thousand questions.
Emerald greens were riveted on the swirling liquid in her glass as her wrist made small circles to keep the brandy moving. The faraway expression that had been on her face cleared slowly at the knock and Loke’s next words. For some reason, the thought of a woman fainting on Loke brought on a round of giggles. Must be the liquor had eased more of the tension than she’d realized.
“A woman fainted on you? Why, Loke, luv, what on earth were you doing to make her faint?” A wink was sent in the shewolf’s direction. Legs were uncurled so that she could stand, the glass of brandy set aside on the shelf.
There was no question of whether she would help, of course, so she headed toward the door, motioning for Loke to lead the way. “This should make for an interesting explanation…” Smirk was fixed on her lips and she let another giggle escape. Yes, definitely the liquor’s fault.
Lips curled upwards in a smirk as Lexi laughed at her. She knew it had to sound bad but she couldn't say anything else. It was the truth. Hazel eyes drifted to the drink in her hand before she chuckled herself. "Well, you know how people react to this dangerous booty. One can't help it." Loke flicked her hair behind her back or would have if it wasn't already pulled back in a ponytail.
Once Lexi was out of her room, she dropped her arm around her shoulders. "So, she's a bear, hungry, very dirty. I need some help getting her clean before I wake her up and stuff some food into her stomach and send her to bed. Ash asked me to take care of her, since he and Silent are taking care of Hakim." She glanced at Lexi as they walked to the bathroom. "Hakim's a new wolf."
Once in the bathroom she extended a hand to Winter who was laying in a half tub full of now luke warm semi dirty water. The girl was very dirty and needed a good washing down and well the other girls would be the most comfortable about washing another female since it wasn't sexual.
Silent had already managed to raid Lacey's closet to find the lil she bear something to wear. No point in putting dirty things on. Besides might as well get used to Lacey's scent since she was one of the alpha bears in the pack. Setting the pair of pj pants and shirt on the counter she would peek over the fox and wolf.
"Soooo..Umm do we have a name for the cub yet?"
Curiousity killed that cat...But it was the wolf that ate it right? And well two new potential pack members excited the lupa.
"Should I get more towels..Umm shampoo...A floating device so she doesnt drown?"
Loke looked up as Silent dropped off the clothing before she dug back into scrubbing the girl's hair. Her nose wrinkled as the water was turning murky and dirty, shaking her hair back off her shoulder she leaned down and rubbed her forehead against her shoulder. "She didn't say before she took a fall into me. She smells like snow.. though." Nose wrinkled faintly as she reached down beneath Lexi's arms to find the plug and pull it out so the water could drain. Lexi and Loke worked as a team, as if they knew how each other would move.
Loke leaned back as Lexi turned the faucets to run more water into the tub. She reached up and wiped her face this time with the front of her shirt. "How's Hakim settling in? I didn't think he would become pack, he's got lots of hurt in his eyes." Loke's head tilted watching Silent, where once there would have been contempt and anger there was only mild affection. It possibly had been the long seperation that made her yearn pack and even Silent more and more.
"Snow huh? Well at least she wount have you craving texmex."
Yes, Lacey had Silent always craving Taco bell. She loved the bear..But loved the fact that her stomach was a bottomless pit when it came to the amount of food she consumed.
"Shes pretty. Even before the dirt was gone. Well since Hakim is going to be sleeping in the big bed with us...You should eighter bring her with you...Or we can bring a extra cot into the Master bedroom...For her."
The coment about the blond wolf joining the pack had Silent shrugging some.
"Yea. But our ulfric has a knack for making where he is seem like home.. I know hes been able to heal wounds from other packs. But ya know. Hakim needs us just as much as we need him."
She would look down some.
"Besides sometimes we need a good leader to heal the good leader. Cause ya know with every great leader..A great pack follows."
Loke gave Silent a nod as she dipped the large plastic bowl into the filling tub, shifting so she was standing over the tub and holding Winter with one arm across the top of her back, she poured the water over her hair letting the clean hot water finally get the last of the ick off her. Feet shifted again as she set Winter back down against the back of the tub and knelt beside it, knees popping in protest.
"You are very right, our Ulfric has that way with things." Her stomach tightened, remembering that Ash stated he wanted to talk to her later. Ugh, knots formed and suddenly she felt a little sick to her stomach. Fear of not knowing what would be said. The only thing she could figure was that he was disappointed in her for allowing Ryver to attack the CORE members during the caravan ride to the new house.
Loke's brows drew down slightly before she tilted her head noticing something now that she hadn't before. Hand reached under the water to lift Winter's arm and show the small ID bracelet. She turned it over in her fingers and glanced at Silent and Lexi. "It says Winter." Loke's eyes tipped to Winter's face and she chuckled. "Well that's ironic huh? I did find a box of old Tarot cards in her pants pocket, that was the only other thing she had. ... Well at least we have a name now."
Head tilted at Silent for a moment as she spoke, hands scrubbing the shampoo through Winter's scalp to get it throughly clean, they didn't need lice or mites or even fleas here to bother them. "Ah.. well.. I guess I can curl up with her. I wanna get some food in her before we settle her in, her stomach sounds like it's trying to claw it's way free. Although I don't know how much sleep she'll get near me. My nightmares get a bit wild at times." She frowned slightly and shifted her grip of the woman so Lexi could pour the water over her hair and rinse the last of the dirt out of her hair. Now she smelled like snow, clean pristine snow.
Elena sniffed the air, curiously, as she walked into the pack house. A run had been what she'd needed to let off some steam .. not bad steam, but just that kind of energy that buzzed and buzzed until you channeled it into something productive. Like a shot of adrenaline, or something.
She caught the scents of Silent, Loke, and Lexi and followed her nose to those scents after grabbing a bottled water from the fridge. The scents brought her to the bathroom upstairs, and the closer she got to them, the more she could smell a new bear. Clean snow mingled in the air and as she reached the doorway, she cocked one brow up questioningly. "New orphan?" Her lips curved slightly as she glanced down to the bear in the bathtub, taking in the woman's appearance. "She's pretty," it was a quiet musing as she shifted her glance, nodding to Loke, Lexi, and Sil. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Like call Vinny or Lacey or .. make up a bed, or something. Elena preferred to help out with things when she got wind of them, and usually felt bad when she missed them. But! she hadn't missed it this time. Or, so she hoped.
Lexi had remained quiet while she helped to clean the pretty girl in the tub, concentrating on removing all traces of dirt and grime. She had to wonder what could have happened to let this girl end up in such a state. A glance was sent toward Loke and Silent, a slight nod in agreement about Ash having a way with things like that.
Head was given a shake to force her hair out of her face so that she could peer at the bracelet Loke had discovered. A name was helpful, at least. And perhaps when they woke Winter up they would be able to find out more about her.
Plastic bowl was lifted and filled so that she could rinse Winter’s hair while Loke held her. “Don’t worry, luv, I’ll keep you from flailing about too much.” There was a teasing note to this statement, though it was clear that she intended to curl up with Loke and Winter for the night.
The Geri’s appearance brought a nod and slight smirk at being caught bathing an unconscious woman. It really was rather funny if you thought about it in a certain light. “Evening, Elena. She fainted on Loke.” The faucet was shut off and the tub began to drain before a towel was handed to Loke to begin drying the bear’s hair. A second towel was spread out on the floor so that they could lift Winter out of the tub.
She lapsed into silence again as she set to work drying the girl off. The difficult part would be trying to wrestle the clothes Silent had brought onto the unconscious Winter.
Woke up today in Rome as the plan was touching down and all I could think about was home and maybe I'd go back some time. Those were thoughts that currently plagued the bear's mind. It was hard to adjust to a new home especially when one was feeling a bit lost. And just when she had started to accept the island as her home, all of it went up in a uproar and literally burned in hell. Blood and violence had been a big part of her life ever since the day she had met up with her first real bear. The beast had been both terrifying and majestic in the way it threw it's huge body around that Lace had been frozen with fear right on the spot. If it hadn't been for her little brothers screams she would have let the beast kill her. But the instinct to survive and to protect that in which was weaker then her had propelled her into action. Sadly the bear or a more correct tem for it would be "were bear" had torn through her mother and father as well as one brother.
She had managed to hold the bear off away from Daniel her only remaining family member but had been severely mauled in the process. Even now at times years later she could still feel the way the skin split apart like cheese to a grater. Her brother had welcomed her until the results came back from the doctor stating that Lacey would turn on the next full moon. Life from that moment had been unbearable, her brother fled to the orphanage and Lace was left alone to restart a new life one that had been born upon near death and one that had been pushed forcefully onto her will. Not many welcomed her and even other were bears along the way took to challenging her.
At one point in her life she had thought to put together her own family and then things changed instantly and in a fit of anger she fled her home and thought to bury her sorrow in the waves of the ocean of some forgotten paradise.
But then she met Vinny and Silent and shortly after Ash who took her in as a part of his pack. Life began to have real meaning again and she found herself slowly falling in love with each and every one of them. So many now held a special place in her heart and still Lace had trouble coping with things. Every good intention she ever had got twisted and turned into something else and now as she made her way up the walk to her new home she could feel the bear restless inside her.
It had been that way for a few days now, edgy and pacing and wanting to get out. Her hand reached for the knob but paused as something unknown alerted her to the presence of another of her kind. It was hard to explain what it was that told Lace but the hair along the back of her neck rose to attention and the bear stopped it's pacing and held deathly still. She tilted her head to the side trying to catch a foreign scent as she listened outside the door. No immediate danger was felt yet she knew better then to pass it by as nothing, hand gave the knob a turn and in she stalked like that of a silent predator. Circling and studying the area around her, there was another scent there as well but for the time being she left that one alone and concentrated more on the other bear.
Steaming Enchiladas scented the air as the power of her beast rose up high to the surface and with a light push she sent it outwards to explore and caress around each and every little thing that happened to be in the perimeter. She caught sight of Loke who had a arm draped around Lexi and instead of offering a greeting she watched as Loke led her into the bathroom. A brow arched and after a moment or two she followed in and then paused when she saw Silent holding a set of her pj's. She inched in and suddenly the room felt smaller due to her bit of power play and with a look that couldn't quite be explained she took a stance beside Leni. It was hard to tell what exactly was on the bears mind.
The power held a wave of protection but if need be could change in a split instant, Lace looked over to Silent and after noting that the wolf was at ease she let her guard down a little and relaxed with her arms folded over her chest. Lips curved upwards as she offered a smile first to Leni who was the closest and then stepped over to Silent. A quick yet gentle brush of her cheek to the woman's before she turned and looked toward the bath tub.
Arms unfolded and a wave was given to both Lexi and Loke. Her head lowered as she took to studying the woman laying there. Snow tickled her nostrils and it had Lacey puzzled because it wasn't a scent one smelled to often and then Loke read off the name from the bracelet and oddly it seemed rather fitting. She didn't say much as far as conversation goes but did cut in when she heard them discussing where the bear would be sleeping.
" Well, since she will already be wearing my pajama's I don't see what harm it will do in letting her share my room. You know? "..
Lace moved toward the closet and returned shortly with two towels, one for Winter's hair and the other for wrapping around her middle.
" Besides I'd like to keep a eye on her, not often we get a new bear in the mix. Have you tried waking her yet?. Or would you like me to do it?"
She lowered herself down to her knees beside Loke and Lexi and then reached out to gently press finger tips beneath Winter's chin. A lift then as she studied the woman's face, her bear moved then to trace it's self up and along the snow white bear . Lace drew her face close to the womans and then a whisper was granted to her ear.
" Wake up snow white"..
Her bear pressed into the white bear trying to nudge it awake. Heat rose to the air as the power of Lace's bear sought to obtain the attention of the white one. Power held no menace what so ever ,it held a calming surreal to it that softly caressed along both forms of Winter, human and beast. Hand fell way and she leaned back on her knees waiting ever so patiently to see if she would awaken or if Lace had to pick her up and drag her powdery white hiney to bed.
ah crap! >< I did the same thing lol. This is suppose to be Lacey... O.o and I just noticed that me and Ali posted at the same time >< which messes with the posts.. so uh yeah... do whatever works best.
Loke looked up as Elena and then Lacey joined them, like eager children ready to see a new shiney toy or present. Loke couldn't help but grin like an asshole with that thought in her head. Hand rubbed the towel over Winter's hair before she managed to wrap it around her hair and tuck the curled end under the back so it kept her hair wrapped fully in the towel. Knees gave a popping protest as she stood and straightened herself up. "If you want you can get some food, I'm sure there are some left overs in the fridge." She said to Leni before she stepped back to let Lacey have a knock at the bear.
Loke stepped back toward Lexi and offered the vixen a hand up. One Lexi was standing Loke drapped an arm over her shoulder, giving it a slight hug. It was weird just how the two had gotten so close since the forced closeness during the travel across the country. "You can take her to your bed, we haven't woken her up yet. But she does need something to eat, her stomach has been growling since .. well since she found me."
Very glad that Lacey might be the one to wake her up, Although she wouldn't leave the girl's sight or smell range just in case she woke up in a panic and didn't know who the rest of them were.
There was a feeling of the walls starting to close in on her as another body joined them. Emerald gaze flashed for a moment toward Lacey, giving a slight smile and nod. When Loke offered her a hand up, it was taken gratefully since her ankles had begun to protest her sitting on them. The normally lowered shields were brought back into place as Lacey’s power moved out to Winter. She wasn’t precisely claustrophobic, but the bathroom just seemed too small to hold all of them and that power as well.
Since Loke’s arm was around her shoulders, she leaned against the slightly taller woman. Weight was shifted from one foot to the other as the pins and needles feeling slowly melted away. “I’m getting hungry just listening to all that growling. Haven’t had a thing since breakfast… well, aside from a drink or two.” It was said in a soft tone, mostly for Loke alone, though she had no doubt the others could hear her.
‘A drink or two’ was something of an understatement considering that there was at least one empty bottle of brandy and another well on its way to joining that state. Hm, brandy. Maybe that would wake the bear up long enough to get some food into her.
“I’ve got brandy if we need it to wake her...” A gentle shrug so that Loke’s arm wasn’t dislodged.
Winter could hear a soft murmmering of voices, hands touching her, warmth and beasts everywhere around her as she was sunk into warmth that enveloped her like a glove. A soft sigh parted pink lips as the hands worked over her. She had heard the voices slowly growing louder, her body protesting profusely at the way she was being moved, the beast inside of her barely opening an eye up, wanting to hibernate and just be left alone. The nightmares filling her head, making her shake almost voilently had subsided, feeling the others caring for her, not used to any form of touch since she had been with the Sloth.
That wouldn't last long though, feeling something rub against her, powerful like her own beast, soft fur and whispered words to wake up. Lashes fluttered open, revealing the deepest, warmest brown eyes, flecked with specs of pure gold, gazing up as several women in the room with her. She felt the various beasts, the polar bears nose going 0 to 90 scenting everyone, such a delicious flavor. A smile slowly formed, showing her chipmunk cheeks, and the dimples, giving her that cherubic look. It wouldn't last long, because a rather large stretch would ensue, one of those that totally makes your toes curl and sounds like you are having one hell of an orgasm. Her beast completely followed suit.
Licking pert lips, she looked each woman over with carefl indulgence, putting each face, scent, sound, movement, beast to memory. These women had taken care of her, and they had earned the polar bears deepest loyalty. Clearing her throat softly, her words matched her perfectly, soft, mlodic and light hearted, near angelic, as she spoke to them. "Hi....How long...?" She hadn't known just how long she had been out, feeling like it had been ages, and she was still so sleepy, but her belly was growling louder than ever.
"Oh! I'm.... I'm sorry.... I haven't caused any trouble have I?" As she asked, her eyes went directly to the other bear, the chocolate depths widening slightly, then to Loke, who had protected her. She couldn't help but grin at Lexi and Leni, just because...
The arm around Lexi loosened and she could feel the room grow silent as the newest bear started to wake up. Loke shifted to take the clothes from Silent with a "Mahalo kaikaina" before she moved to stand off to Winter's left as she stretched. Mmm that looked like it felt really good. Knees bent popping as she set the clothing beside Winter and the tarot cards on top of the new clean clothing before folding her arms across her bent knees.
"Welcome back to the living Sweetheart. I'm Loke, this is Lacey, Lexi, Silent and Elena. You've been out about two hours, I wanted to get you clean before we woke you up. Your stomach has been growling like it's mad at me. Your safe here. Lacey can fill you in, while I go find you some food. Lacey, bring her downstairs when your done, I'll have found something for her to eat." Loke indicated each person with her hand as she spoke there names. Standing she patted Lacey's shoulder intending to go make the bear some food. There was always left overs. Loke glanced at Lexi and nodded to the door before slipping out to head downstairs.
Elena had given a slight nod to Loke, giving the polar bear a silent appraisal as to what, of the leftovers, she might like. She was drawn out of her musing when the woman stretched and opened her eyes, and Leni couldn't help but find the other woman adorable. She smiled as Loke went around with the introductions, lifting her hand just slightly when her own name was spoken. For the moment, she kept her shields up in place, though her own scent of Eucalyptus would still linger in the air as she nodded to Lace. "I'll go help them prepare something." She wanted to give the alpha bear a few moments with Winter anyway.
As she turned to leave, blues flickered to Silent. "You coming?" Her head tilted slightly, but she waited only for a moment before bounding downstairs after Loke, excited for the new arrival, even though she was a bear.
Sil had sorta dazed out for a moment. The smell of their new winter was comforting. She figured with as many hands as the small woman had..That she would be in the way and the fact that Silent was the worlds biggest accident(proned) person...She figured her spot on the sink was just fine.
Leni and Lace's arrival had her kissing each woman in turn on the cheek. A small smile given to them. The sounds of a growling tummy had sil frowning some but when the mass exit to make food started Silent joined. Wishing she brought some of the leftover she had at the Asylum home with her.
Streaching...She would curl her arm around the midnight wolfs waist. Giving a small good luck wink to Lace as she followed the women to the kitchen.
"Imma coming. Besides I need to ask you bout something Leni. And Im craving mexican...Think we can get some in Rome? "
Ahh the pleasures of the states she would have a hellva time getting here...
A soft chuckle was given when Winter asked if she had caused any trouble. As she saw, the only trouble caused was that now she could tease two people about the fainting incident… though, of course, she’d wait to get to know the new bear first. A nod was given to Winter when Loke spoke her name, lips twitching into a smirk.
Catching Loke’s signal, she was soon following after the others to give the two bears some time to talk. On the way, she made a quick stop at her room to collect the glass that was still two-thirds full of brandy.
Being the last of their little group to get to the kitchen, she’d find a spot that was mostly out of the way to wait and listen.
