With the phone to her ear she twirled the cord around her fingers, her other five hands working on the meal she was cooking for the brothers. The phone rang until voice mail picked up.
"Good Evening Miss Lillian, this is Silk. I just wanted to let you know I have your parcel ready for you. Please call me back at 867-5309 when ever you have a chance. I am looking forward to hearing back from you."
She hung up as she turned her attention to the boiling pot of water. The dress had taken pretty much no time since it was on the smaller side. The most time that had been put into it, had been the hand stiching of the leaves and the curling vine that crawled up one side. A bright red flower stitched into the delicate fabric over one shoulder and breast. It really was beautiful.
Lillian Bradshaw was pretty notorious for sleeping. That is, she could wake up at 12 PM and take a three hour nap later on in the day, only to fall asleep yet again around 10 PM. She was a tiny thing but who knew she could sleep so much? Of course such actions lead the woman to missing quite a few phone calls.
This fine evening when the youngest Bradshaw awoke from her three hour nap, she glanced to her spiffy flip phone and noticed she had FIVE missed calls, TEN text messages and THREE voice mails. Ugh! Lillian slapped her forehead and prepared to go through all the voicemails and text messages. She replied to the texts at an expert speed, those little thumbs speeding over the small keypad. She returned the missed calls and finally, listened to the voice mails, pen and paper in hand.
They were all boring, recordings about how her car payments were due and she had some unclaimed money elsewheres. Really, telemarketers need to stop. But... what was this?! The last voice mail was that of the delicate Silk. HER DRESSIE WAS READY!! Lillian jumped out of bed (because really, there's no need to get out of bed when you're doing such activities) and did a cartwheel - phone still in hand. Lillian pressed the appropriate number to hear the message again before writing down Silk's phone number. Once her breathing calmed down, she had just about ran through every room screaming her joy, Lili ended up in the kitchen, sitting on the countertop. She was a peculiar little creature.
Lils dialed the appropriate number and waited. The phone rang and rang, maybe Silk was napping too! And then the unavoidable voice mail recording. Blah. Usually, Lillian hated leaving voice mails but! This was a special occasion.
``Hello to you too, Miss Silk! Thank you for finishing my dress so quickly, totally faster than I expected -`` Giggle. ``I can be ready to pick it up this evening or whenever your ready! I cannot wait! Thank you so very, very much! Byyyyeee``
Tonight, she would make Grandma's famed cheesecake.
