Stephanie as always had transcribed the phone messages onto glow-n-the-dark "Message" notes and handed them over to Bree with a happy smile, no doubt born out of her own sense of accomplishment, on her face.  "These are for you Dr. Hayes."   As always, Bree took the notes with a polite thank you. She didn't need Stephanie to do this for her, Bree was perfectly capable of navigating her voice mail system on her own, but it made Stephanie happy and kept her from fluttering about, clouding up the air with her own worry. And Bree let her.  The last message was from Anna Marie, and upon seeing it Bree frowned at her assistant. "Stephanie, I don't need to be a mind reader to see those unhappy thoughts floating about in your head. You positively turn into a lemon whenever this girl is here, why?" Bree knew, but hearing someone admit to things on their own was always a refreshing experience. After a moment of fidgeting Stephanie sighed. "I don't think she's...I mean, what I mean is, Bree she's not human!"

"But Stephanie, neither am I." Neither the smile nor the look in Bree's eyes went well with the words. "Why don't you take the rest of the day off. Go buy a book or something, and when you come in tomorrow, you will have an entirely new outlook on the world, one a bit more favorable than the current one you're sporting." It wasn't a suggestion, simple fact that come morning Stephanie would be an entirely new person.

Once the assistant was gone, Bree picked up the phone and dialed Anna Marie's number, waiting for someone to pick up but catching the voice mail bug instead.

"Anna Marie, it's Doctor Hayes, I just got your message and can see you tonight around (insert time here), Stephanie won't be in the office so don't wait and just come in. Call me back if you can't make it."  Click.
