Before the Moon (A Year Later)

-Lyric had come to a realization last night. The fight with Ash replayed in her head like a bad movie. Her anger, his reaction, her words, he lack of them. How had she not seen it before? How had she been so blind? He had saved her, fought for her, and kept her at his side. She was his little girl. His words came back to her, and she frowned. "There's nothing you could ever do, or say that would change the way I feel about you." Her eyes were filling with tears again. Hot and wet running down her cheeks, making small rivers.

The car was set in park, and Lyric sat there with the engine off. Her breathing she controlled, slowing it down. She needed to regain her composer before going into the house. Napkins were taken to clean her face, and remove the little make-up she wore. Ash was right. There was so much she didn't understand. There was so much going on she was unaware of. Lyric hurt him by not being around. She had made herself distant with the pack. Worse she failed to tell Ash about Brandon and how he could connect with her wolf.

So many mistakes. So much had happened that she didn't know if Ash would forgive her. She wanted to do nothing but hold him. Wrap her arms around her Daddy and swear over and over she wouldn't leave him, would stop being stupid about what was going on. Talking to Jay Jay last night helped this. Helped realize what she had been doing. Even if what they said didn't really pertain to her situation with Ash. Just talking to the hyena made her feel better. Made things come into focus. Focus is what Lyric needed. She didn't understand the full extent of what going on with Ash.

In her car, with his presents sitting next to her, she swore she would find out. Find out and aide him. Even if it was just to hold him at night and tell him she loved him. Loved him like a daughter, a woman, and above all a wolf who supported her Ulfric. He was her savior. He rescued her, like a knight in black shinning armor.

The bag was taken in her hands. She would opened her car door, keys dangling from her finger tips. The suitcase hung off her shoulders, as she walked quietly to the front door. The scent of Ash hung in the air. The rush of the highlands came to her and wrapped around her wolf. The way his scent eased her, made her feel more welcomed. It calmed parts within Lyric she did not know could be so chaotic. Steps lead to Ash's room. She knew he would not be in.

The green bag was set on his bed. Like she had done the first time a little over a year ago. The green tissue paper over flowed, with shamrocks all over them, as well as the bag. It was a rich green color that spoke of who had left it there.
The gifts were almost the same as the ones she had given him a year ago. A set of CDs, all Opera. Adia, Carmen, and the last was The Gypsy Baron. They were all wrapped separately as his personal present. She had done this the year before.

For his Ulfric present she had done the same once more. Two rosaries were in two separate clear boxes. The first one held a cross made of silver with onyx stones. The black gems reminded her so much of Ash. The black of his wolf. If one looked closer each bead held a glitter of blue. The same intense blue of his eyes. Eyes; Lyric knew that saw straight through her. Each and every time. The next rosary was silver in metal, with shamrocks at each tip of the Celtic cross. The beads were of green gems. The name of them, Lyric had forgotten. She did not give him a jewelry box this time, since he had one already. There was a chain in a box, a plain metal chain. Attached to it were the same holy water vials she had given him the year before. Two were set on the chain, which could be clipped to his belt.

The last gift was a DVD. Alvin and the Chipmunks. It was completely a gag gift. A sticky note was on it, that read 'For our Movie Date.' This was assuring Ash she wanted to be closer to him. To really be there again. No more running, no more making a choices like allowing Brandon into her mind again without Ash checking him out first. The card was set on the gift, with his name written in her script.

Within the card, she had written a simple oath. "I promise to never leave you. Where you follow, I will as well. I will always wait for your return. I will always be your wolf. No matter what life brings us. I will fight for you as you have fought for me."

Leaving everything, she knew if it wasn't the green bag that gave her away it would be her scent. Before leaving his room, Lyric removed a framed picture she had found. It was two wolves in the snow, nuzzling. A black wolf and a white one. Eyes closed, with the noses touching. It had reminded her so much of Ash and herself, she could not help buy it. That was set on his dresser. Fingertips caressing the plain frame, before her heels tip tapped their way out of his room, closing the door behind her.-
