A Call to the Sun King: Ace calling Adam
Permalink Closed

Everyone was sleeping. Colin and Mayra curled up in bed with Opheli and Joe snuggling in behind the Russian tigress. She had stood there for a long while just watching them all. So much was missing out of the picture and she felt utterly stupid for going about things the way she had. Fear had caused her to make a lot of bad decisions. From the people she got involved with to the men she dated. So many mistakes, but with Gabe and with Cody there was no fear of having to make that commitment, to put full power behind just words and lust. They were friends of hers, people she could turn to, and filled that little void that ached so bad for something that she could probably never have. Still did not justify the mistakes in the long run.

Cell phone in her hand was flipped over back and forth, she would lid the face down, draw up his number on the menu then close it down all over again. Fearing the rejection to see her that could come with the request. Seeing him in the pack this afternoon had rattled her. Was not fear, she did not fear Adam, she respected him and it had made this whole mess so painful to bare that she wanted to run.... Run to him and beg for his forgiveness.

Finally she closed the door to the bedroom they all had pilled in to tonight walking down stairs out on to the beach to watch the sun rise. Issac had made her want to scream when he had come up on the beach and saw to lay a claim on her that was no mans right to do... Save one and she did not even belong to him. The boy had been put in his place, not how she had wanted to do things. But Cocky and grabby is a sure way of getting her hackles up.

She flopped down in the sand, The beach was empty, no one around save the wind and waves. Etching across the sky were ribbons of orange, purple, blue and the dripping of blood red chasing away the midnight blanket of stars and lunar light. Would there ever be a way to make things right, to have what she wanted. Had never been about ruling, She did not want to rule over any one. She only wanted to stand by him. Such a fool.

Took her a few more times of hitting that little talk button Waiting for the ring and ending the call before it even went though. She finally stopped being such a coward and let the rings end with the chiming of his voice mail. Even the sound of his voice brought a smile to her face, the image of him in the park this afternoon filled her mind, and the jealousy she had hidden in seeing someone else standing beside him. The beep snapped her out of it.

"Adam..." She had to check her voice, it was damn near cracking. "Its Ace... Would you please call me back, I wanted to know if it was possible for us to get together, Just you and me someplace quiet so I could talk to you. I have some things I need to say and its nothing I can really express over the phone... It's important please."

She hung up before she lost it. Folding the face of the phone down and clutched it tightly in her hands. Head bowed down to her knees, not sure any thing could be done to change things, Undo the damage. But she was going to try and fight for what she really wanted.... What she had always wanted.

-: Sometimes Adam caught himself wondering if there was anyone on Earth who could be any happier than he had been lately. The days here in paradise were different, slow soothing heat and the winds off the ocean made him feel a stirring in that inner peace. The house was nearly finished now, he Nadia and Lucien had spent months working to erect this home of their dreams. Simple by some standards, but it was exactly what they had wanted. Like a cabin it was framed in sturdy wood, he had followed the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright. It had been built around the enviornment, not cutting through it. The porch that wrapped around it was a place to relax, sunrise or sunset, and listen to the noises of the lush jungle that surrounded them. There was a fresh water stream that collected in silent pools, and hidden in the interior of the landscape was a small waterfall that fell into a pool of crisp blue water. All made by god, the ultimate architect. Their first day at the site Damon and Ephony had erected a tire swing that hung from a tree over the pool so you could swing out, let go and make the free fall into the blue depths below. It had become their sanctuary.:-

-:Still there was always something handy to be done on a project like this, and with the boys moving in Adam was finishing renovations on a large room near the back that had a half stair and loft space. Perfect for the brothers to share. There were french doors that were open letting in the breeze, and so that he could hear the chatter on the porch. Damon had cooked dinner for them all so they were dining al fresco. Sloane and Jude were lounging lazily on the deck playing a card game, their laughter a song on the air, as Ephony and Damon prepared and set up the outdoor table for all of them. Nadia and Lucien were at the table, going over their household expenses and making sure bills got paid. Gillian was mixing fresh squeezed lemonade in the kitchen and he could hear her humming softly to herself, bringing a smile to his face. It was comforting that they could all hear one another, feel one anothers spirits. When Jason came into the room with his phone Adam was just putting some final touches on some built in bookshelves he was putting on one wall. At his feet the large golden retreiver Jake was curled up sleeping. Jasons entrance woke him and that flag of a tail immediately started beating the floor.:-

"Sorry Adam, you missed the call."

-:That easy lilted lipped smile was given to the tiger as he took the phone, fingers brushing the young mans and sending that soothing wash of power his way.:- "It's alright Jason. Go on and have fun with Jude and I'll be out there in a minute."

-: Tools were put away and then he wiped sawdust covered hands on his loose worn in jeans before unflipping the phone and punching up his voice mail box. The voice of Ace sounded strange, not like she normally did and it made his cocky brow furrow. He couldn't imagine what could have gone wrong since he last saw her. Certainly Ash or Patsy would have called him if some large scale lycan disaster had happened while he and his outlaw band were cloistered away in their commune. Hanging up without checking the rest of his messages he called her back and instead of reaching her he also received her voice mail.:-

"Ace it's Adam. We were just about to sit down to dinner, but if this is an emergency I can come out your way now. If not I'll be in town tomorrow with Nadia to get some more supplies. She can drop me off if you want to meet up."
