-Hearing the orders being barked out from her Freki, had made Lyric scared. She really didn't like what was going on. Lyric did as she was told. Helped Mahina get dressed, and then helped Mahina in the wheelchair and into Lyric's car. Mamma took the front seat, calling Da. Da was getting the order to get food, and lots of it to take it to the pack house. Mostly meat, and potatoes. Lyric knew her Mamma would take care of all the cooking. Feed the troops, like Memphis wanted.
Driving her jetta to the house, she thought about what Memphis had said, and what he had done. He was growing in power, and Lyric felt more secure in that. Felt she was safe. Why wasn't Silent here? Silent of all people who believed in pack wasn't here. She needed to get the full story from Kota later.
Arriving to the house, Mamma rushed over to the kitchen to start cooking. Lyric helped Mahina crawl into the largest bed of the house, and setting her next to Coyote when he ever came. Carefully she stripped Mahina, and smiled.
"Ya was so brave."
Words were whispered in that Jazzy ghetto tone that Lyric had. She removed her own clothing, and settled in close to Mahina giving her the warmth and the energy she had. It wasn't like Harry at all. He had a power that Lyric hadn't ever seen. Mocha latte fingers brushed back the hair on Mahina's head as she shared her strength. The scent of cedar and pine needles mixing with that of pineapples and the surf.
"Sleep, Ash will be home soon, and so will Cypress. Memphis, Ash and Cypress will protect us. Trust in them."
The words were not filled with any false promise. Lyric honestly believed that Ash, Memphis and Cypress would protect them. They were tough and they were strong enough to keep the rest of the pack alive. Lyric would lend her strength to both Mahina and Coyote. She knew Mamma and Da would take care of feeding everyone and keep the food coming to heal everyone. Lyric kept close to Mahina the whole while, knowing the pack would slowly trickle in and lend their strength to their fallen family members. -
Mahina was carefully lifted by Harry and her cheek nuzzled against the man’s drinking in his scent as he placed her down into the wheelchair, she sucked it in and did not shriek. She was wheeled out by Lyric and her and Harry helped her in the cab. When Harry got in, she snuggled into the knight in shining armor as much as he allowed and so she was not in pain. “Thank you so very…much..” did she whisper to his ear. The bumps and turns made her whince lowly and cling to him. She drank in his scent once again and blanketing him with her own to mix pineapple and aloe.
Once to the pack house he carefully lifted her and carried her inside. Once in and placed on the massive bed, Lyric was there and stripped Mahina completely and down to her gauze dressings. She spooned behind Coyote when Harry brought him in. Hearing Lyric tell her she was so brave was the first time since the fighting occurred, that someone told her that. It brought tears and her hand reached behind to touch her hip. “Thank you, sister.” Yes, Mahina felt close already to the pack and she listened to her words. She did trust Harry and Ash. Hearing others were coming only made the she wolf smile. She heard great things of this Cypress that she wished it was better circumstances to meet her but she trusted in Lyric to know she will help.
Only wishing someone would explain to her why Silent left the two of them to handle the situation when they were very incapable to be doing such a thing. She swallowed and wanted to ask Lyric if she was going to be in trouble with Ash but her warmth and stress of all the moving and the pain factor increasing had her eyes closing and sleep took over. As much as she wanted to stay awake and talk to her and Harry, she couldn’t. There will be plenty of other times.
The message left on her cellphone had made her bones cold, through and through. She leaves for one weekend, one weekend to check on Alex, and the world has to go to shit. Evie had been in her studio apartment with the french doors to her balcony thrown open, lounging on the couch in her grey sweats and a midnight blue tank top watching 'Friends.' She hadn't been able to watch Friends when it was popular, considering ... well, she'd been in a padded room. So it was only fair that she be able to indulge in the ten-season DVD package. She must've missed the call when she'd been fiddling with the DVD menu, because her cellphone was suddenly buzzing. Picking up the small contraption, she listened to the message, sitting bolt upright, her mouth going dry.
"Fuck."
That seemed to sum it up pretty well.
Leaping to her feet, she was quick to throw on a pair of shoes, closing her windows but not bothering to lock them. She was already on her phone, voice low and serious with the cab company. "If you can get a driver here in three minutes and that driver can get me where I need to go in five, I'll pay fifty dollars." That seemed to seal the deal. Pacing outside of her apartment complex, gloved hands repeatedly running through her hair and fixing her clothing, she waited for a cab that showed up five minutes later. That two minutes meant a great deal to her, but the cabbie didn't seem too bothered. Throwing herself across the leather, she barked a simple, "drive!' The telemetric was sure to give him an address a block or so away from the actual house, so that when she finally arrived he never saw her final destination. Tossing the fifty dollars at the driver, Evie sprinted away, running to the house as fast as she could. When she finally reached the house, she threw open the door, eyes wide, the panic truly setting in. Was Ash hurt, or Silent? or any members of the pack ... had it been Little Red Riding Bitch? She needed answers, and soon.
Oh She was so tired. But still sleep was not so much what she wanted at the moment. Parking the cab out front as close to the front door as possible. One by one everyone poured out of the cab and in to the yard making the painful trip to comfortable beds. Did not matter what anyone told her to do, There was no way in hell short of drugging her that was going to get her in to bed right now. Food, something to drink that would calm her nerves and sitting down with Memphis, and Cypress were her first order of business after checking in on the two injured pups. Seeing them in so much pain made her throat so tight she feared she would never find her voice. Sitting beside Coyote, with her hand curled against his own. Free hand reached for the shy Mahina, offering a small touch. As much as she was doubting her place in the pack..... thanks to Lilith. It was not ties alone to the pack that had her there. These two had nearly died to save her.
"Sleep, get well, and soon this will all just be a bad dream soon to fade."
Closeness was not something she was doing so well with right now. Touch had never bothered her before, she just had this feeling that being close to her right now was dangerous. When the pups were asleep, and in the care of Lyric, Kota made her way in to the common room and right for the bar. Glass of whiskey was poured heavy handedly. Cradling the glass in hand when she came in to the kitchen to sit down at the kitchen table. There were a number of things to go over, so much of it was jumbled in to her it took her a moment to get them all sorted out. One moment she was thinking about Elsa's murder case, the next about Silent doing nothing, but sit there watching this Vampire rip them apart.
The kitchen smelled good, it was that smell of home during the holidays, when every thing is given special attention. Her stomach went to growling, rolling over itself and doing flip flops. Elsa been gone 48 hours no, last time she had stopped to eat was a muffin at the office when she picked up Ash's orders. Dinner had been interrupted by the firey red head that had set a fire on all of them in the Hookah Bar. She did not start talking to anyone till Memphis and Cypress joined her at the kitchen table.
-:Memphis had tcked coyote into bed with Mahina leaving them there to rest and be fed by Mamma so he could finally go and get the details from Dakota. Also, getting a stiff drink at the bar sounded like a pretty fucking good idea. That screaming in his head was starting to faeand that too seemed like a good idea. He'd just pulled Kota in for another kiss, one he desperately needed, when the door flew open. First instinct was to attack and he rushed the door in such a burst of speed that Evie probably didn't see him till he was right in front of her. Mid swipe attack became embrace and he lifted the small telemetric up and into a bear hug.:-
"I'm glad you're here girlie, and safe. Ash woulda come home and shit a brick if something happened to you. Come o, we'll fill you in on whats been happening and then you can tell us what you know about this woman."
-:Memphis vaguely knew about the attack on Evie and Silent, Ash had not exactly been a chatty cathy about it but then again he rarely is. Moving into the living room with Evie he let the girls sit down while he fixed two more drinks, two glasses of whiskey and he just hoped that Evie could drink the straight stuff without being sick. Then again times like these were made for the straight stuff. Handing Evie her drink he sat beside Dakota.:-
"Alright, tell us what happened baby."
-:Memphis listened carefully to what she had to tell and then turned to Evie expecting the same. After both women had told their stories he looked towards the door.:-
"Cypress better get home soon. I'm supposed to pick Ash up at the airport."
If Harry was going to keep dishing out the kisses. Kota was going to keep taking them! She needed that touch right now as much as he did. Every time he came close it helped to chase away the lies woven with in her head. Whiskey, Mamma's good food, and family. Evie coming in to the kitchen with Harry tugged only the faintest of smiles upon her lips. So many reason, so many emotions towards the woman and not all of them good. Over all she loved her, and the jealousy of her relationship with Silent was gone. Just was not the time or place to go in to anything with her. She was still dressed in work cloths. So non discript for Kota. Black jeans, black tank top with a light jacket over it to cover the shoulder rig. Hair that had started in a tight braide was not a mass of wavy chestnut red ringlets with a life or it own laying against her shoulders.
Harry sitting down next to her, Kota's hand went out with out thought behind it. Slender fingers laced in to his lightly lifting hi hand to her lips. She did not know just where to begin, So she started with Elsa's murder, the orders she had from Ash about the body, and finding out about any Rouges in the area. That's where it had brought in Mahina and Lani. The Local girls may very well know about some of the others if there were any here.
"Needed lunch so asked Mahina and Lani to met him at Midnight Hookah. Silent wanted to know what was going on, so it would take less time if she was there when I questioned the girls. It all started to happen so fast. She came up behind me so fast I did not even have time to react to her being there." Violet eyes turned up at Memphis. Apologetics for not behind able to act faster. Sorry for letting the others get hurt. Angry that the one person who could have helped them did nothing. Risked them all dieing. "She's was in my head. I could hear her as easily as I can hear both of you right now!"That light calm voice cracked, the edge of tears gripped her so she had to top talking. If she did not she was going to end up sobbing. Kota's damn pride alone gave her that little edge, the ability to shove it all back down in to that place she kept her feelings when she worked.
She wanted to break something! Wanted to scream and rant. All she could do right now was tighten her grip on Memphis's hand and keep it all together. This was just like work, she needed to remain calm and focused so the details would not be forgotten. "She knocked them down every time. And they just kept fighting. She killed them... I felt it. Lylyanna is the woman's name who helped them. Just someone passing by and saw what had happened." She left put what Lilith had done to her for the most part. Not understanding fully what the woman had said. A mark, a way that Lilith could always find her.

Evie had a near heart-attack when Harry was suddenly there, arms raised for a fight. She felt her own raise, as if she could fight someone Harry's size. Ridiculous. The yelp that escaped from her lips in the fear of the moment soon turned into a sigh of pain as Harry crushed her with his bear hug. She felt herself hugging back, hugging for the life of her. "What's happened, wh--" And then he said the magic word. Ash. It was like a trigger or the telemetric. Say the magic word, and tension leaves her body. So the emergency wasn't Ash, which was good news. But the thoughts lingered on the fact that, well, there was still bad news to hear. So, yeah. Tension was relieved, but only slightly.
Moving with Harry, Evie saw Kota, her mouth clicking shut. There was still so much between them left unsaid, so much pain. Evie returned the small smile with one of her own, but made no move to her. There was work to be done, and now wasn't the time for the touchy-feelies.
Evie sat in a chair across from the two of them, swirling her drink in her hand. Was it this bad? What had happened that called for emergency alcohol swilling? Soon enough, Evie was filled in by Dakota's story. She felt her jaw hit the ground, grey eyes wide with fear. Coyote and Mahina were ... dead? Mahina she'd only met once, briefly, in passing, but Coyote ... well, they had one of those 'awkward people love' connections. The mention of Lylyanna had Evie panting, sitting closer. "So, she .. healed them? Made them better?" So that's what the girl was. Evie had sensed something about her, some different energy. A healer. it made sense. Evie'd been out of the loop, due to her traveling to see Alex.
After Evie had been told about Coyote and Mahina, she took a big sip of her drink, blanching against it. Coughing slightly, she began her own story. "I was at Bliss, I'd just run into Silent. I felt them, before hey noticed me. Two vampires. One of them was Little Red Riding Bitch. She attacked Silent from like, thirty feet away, sent her falling into me. Silent ... she was trying to get me out of there, so we ran for it. Ran up the stairs, when she attacked again. Got into Silent's head, locked eyes with her." Evie took another sip of the drink, shaking her head at the memory. "I tried to make her let go, hit the bitch with ... whatever it is inside of me. It didn't work. Could have killed me. And Silent got out of the lock somehow, and we were running up the stairs when Silent was in flames. And then ... the blond vampire. The other vampire from before. He'd cleared out the place, and then suddenly he was holding me, wrapping me in some sort of metaphysical blanket so that the redhead couldn't see me, or Silent. And it's like .. the second she knew I was safe and she wasn't on fire, she went after Red. They went down the stairs, fighting. And the vampire, the blond one, he jumped off the balcony and told me to run. And I did." She took a deep breath, looking at Kota. "I don't think Silent knew what she was doing. The bitch vampire's been in her head before, made her do things ... when Ash picked me up and we went back, she said she ... I don't know. It's complicated. But the blond vampire .. Azreal, or whatever. He saved her."
It was a mouthful, especially for Evie. When she spoke, it was usually in short bursts of snark. She was definately shaken by all of this, and rightly so.
-The call from Memphis had been shocking to say the very least. In all the time he had known the Freki he had never once seen the man give an order or pull rank on anyone. The most he'd ever done was maybe peer pressure someone into drinking one of his atomic blow your mind cocktails. So, that being the case Vinny took the call seriously. Shutting the laptop he shoved it into his bag, looked around the Hookah and told Vasha at the bar to stay put, close up shop and not let anyone been. Rushing out to his Dragster he threw the bag in the back, not even caring if something broke and took off in a peel of rubber and smoke. First thing he did was pull out his own phone to make calls to Pegene and Lola. He knew where they lived and when he reached them he told them he was five minutes away and to be ready for him. The two were omegas and barely that. No way was he letting them try to make the trip to pack lands alone. Driving like a loon he made it in under ten minutes and shuffled the two nervous giinny rls inside. Pegene was in hysterics, which wasn't unusual, but he had her sit up front with him so he could keep her from shifting. Last thing he wanted in a crisis was some whacked out panda bear in the car. As they drove he picked up the phone again and called Lexi.-
"Lex, Vinny here. Emergency, get to the pack house as quick as you can. An order from the top."
-Lexie was strong enough to take care of herself on the way there, and besides he didn't know where she lived. So he just had to hope. And pray. It seemed a good time to dust off the old religion and do a little knee bending. Breaking all the speed limits and hoping that the pigs were getting doughnuts he got them to the house and practically herded them inside. Pegene immediately ran upstairs and slammed the door to a room, probably going to hide in a closet cause that seemed to calm her down. Lola went to the bedroom Mahina and Coyote were in and immediately climbed into bed with them offering her warmth and touch to the healing going on. Vinny was headed straight for the voices in the (kitchen? living room?) getting there just in time to hear Dakota and then Evie explaining things. He cleared his voice to announce his prescence and went to stand near them. After all he was Hati and if Cypress and Harry were mounting a defense then he would be right there beside them.-
"I wouldn't count the Lupa out yet. If what Evie says is true then whoever did this might have been controlling her."
-He didn't have much experience with vampires, other than the fact that they ruffled his fur the wrong way, but he thought he had heard that things like that were possible. Grabbing the bottle of whiskey he didn't bother with a glass, just took a long pull off the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, droplets shining where they had fallen into his scruffy beard.-
"I'll wait for Cypress, she's my partner after all, and I can start getting the place monitored. You go pick up Ash. He's the one we need most right now."
-Another chug of the whiskey before he looked at the girls, the tension between them was ripe and he could almost smell it on the air. Thinking before he spoke he finally added a last idea to the equation.-
"This....thing that vampirella did to you vargamore. I think you should let Evie give you a feel, use whatever she has and see if she can do something about it. To block it or at least find out what it is. The girls got connections you know."
-Vinny wasn't clear on what those connections were given his limited vampire knowledge, but it was something to do with Ash and Marcus, and both men were tough sons of bitches. If help could be had then maybe the two women could put their differences aside for a day or two and try to work things out.-
"I'll go call Cypress again, find out where she is, then get started on security. Leave you two ladies to think about things."
-Leaving the room he headed first to the bedroom to peek in at the injured and check on how secure the room was. Stopping beside the bed he spoke quietly, just enough for them to hear him.-
"If you hear anything, if anything happens, just stay hidden. The Ulfric will be here soon."
-For the first time he was putting the position of Hati to use, and offering something to the pack that had become his family. Reaching out he softly touched first Mahinas cheek and then the top of Coyotes head, lightly ruffling the boys hair. It was all going to be alright. It had to be. Turning from the room to leave Lola and Lyric with the injured he went to check the house, make sure it was locked up tight and then he would plug the laptop into the security system and get it running, sensors and cameras turned on all over the perimeter and from the large screen TV in the living room he could sit and monitor them until Ash arrived.-
His flight home was uneventful, but no sooner did he touch down and turn his phone back on then it started to beep madly with messages. One from Memphis, one from Lyric, Cypress, Vinny, the list went on. Standing in the baggage area with a slight frown on his face he was about to call them back when he looked out the wall of windows and saw Harry's taxi screaching to a halt out front. Even from there he could feel the mans nervous hyper tense energy. Looking at the carousel which had not yet started moving he left to go see what was happening. The look on Harrys face said it all and for a moment Ashes hand reached up to touch the Mark XIX in his shoulder holster. The baggage would just have to wait. A small price to pay. Riding in the taxi was like blazing a trail through the seventh circle of hell in a donkey cart, at one point Memphis even drove on the wrong side of the road to get around someone, but Ash didn't slow his Freki down. As they drove the story unfolded and the look on his face became more and more grim, settling into a cold stony stillness, the stillness of death. He had been gone, when they had needed him he had been gone on a case. A fact he was not soon going to forgive himself for. Always those two sides of himself warred, the man who was an executioner, and the wolf who was Ulfric.
Driving up to the house he saw the cameras hidden in the trees move, but he saw this only because he knew where to look. Surveillance was on which meant Vinny was there, and according to Memphis Cypress was on her way. And what of Silent? She wasn't home when Harry had left...could that mean she was captured? Hurt? He didn't believe that she would desert the pack for her own life without something being behind it. His judgement on that would be reserved for when he heard her side of the story. No sooner were they parked than both men were out of the car and moving towards the door like automatons driven by the same force. Without having to try he set his beast free of it's shields and felt out those inside before he even entered. Vinny, Mahina, Coyote, Lyric, Pegene, Lola, Dakota, and Evie. Not nearly enough. Not by far. Where were the others, and what danger might they be facing?
First things first, see to those inside. Then he would figure out what to do about those who had not yet answered the summons. Throwing the door wide he entered and for possibly the first time in his life he didn't stop to take off his shoes. Energy flowed freely from him announcing his return to those inside with a soothing wind, even the panda upstairs in her closet. He saw Vinny in the living room, but the Hati didn't even look up from his surveillance. It was as it should be. Greetings were the least of their worries at the moment and he was glad for the vigilence. Peripherally he noticed Memphis walking off, probably to find Dakota. Ashes first stop however would be the bedroom. In the semi darkness he could make out the shape of bodies huddled together in bed. Coming close he brushed them with a soothing power and reached out to touch the body nearest which happened to be Mahina, but his eyes traveled to Lyric, Lola and Coyote as well.
"I can't heal you. Not like Silent or Memphis can, but I can call your beast and heal you that way. Only if you want me to do it."
If the answer was yes he would have Lyric help the ones who wanted it out of bed and into the living room where there would be more room. If not then he would leave them in bed to rest. Next he went to find Evie, worried not for them for once, but more about everyone else. Getting close to her he felt the strumming of that silver chord between them and he took her into his arms immediately, happy to see that she was alright. Generous lips kissed the top of the pixies head before pulling back enough to look her in the eyes.
"I know you don't like to do it Evie, but if something happens I need to know that you'll help me open up our connection to Marcus. In a matter of life and death his strength could tip the scales."
The telemetric had always seemed uncomfortable with that metaphysical connection, but right now there was no time for being unsure, no time for second guessing or feelings. The only thing there was time for was planning, and then they would wait. Wait for this demon to make her move. God help them when she did. Taking Evie by the hand he gave it a small squeeze and took her into the living room with him to see if any of the wolves had taken him up on his offer, and to check with Vinny on how their system was running.
"Memphis, call Cypress again, tell her and Brady to come straight here when they dock."
The scent of Japanese cherry blossoms was the first thing everyone in the house would smell. Cypress threw her scent around the house in protection and warning. Brady and she had pushed the yacht as much as the large boat could go to get here. The pack was in danger. Cypress felt Memphis inside, his anger rode in waves reaching Cypress before she opened the door. Brady had gone to his Queen, to tell her of what was going on, to keep the pard safe incase they were next on the list of targets.
Absent hues of white turned to Lyric's Mamma when she entered. The smell of food, of meats and the stench of burned flesh, reaching Cypress in an instant. Thick legs carried her small form across from the thresh hold of the house. All of the pack members she knew were there, even some she did not know.
The first person Cypress greeted was Ash. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders as best she could, placing a kiss to his lips, in submission and in the need to kiss him, simply because she had been gone. She failed in protecting the pack, and failed him. This, Cypress knew would not happen again.
Cypress would move to the force of energy, the man could be a softy if he was not provoked, this Cypress knew. Now, Harry was a force to be reckoned with. Her cheek brushed his own in greeting. Then it was her Hati. Dakota came next. Small steps took Cypress right back to Ash's side.
"I am here my Ulfric."
They needed to sit and talk, know what this danger was to them and how to dispose of it. Her hand sought that of Ash's, needing the connection they shared. He was her Ulfric, leader, King and Ruler of her soul. She would offer her life to save his, no matter what. It was her duty.
Dark was settling in on the island and the coming and goings of others Mahina could hear. Another entered the bed, the scent was one she hadn’t smelt before but the energy was felt and soothing some of the pain. But her eyes were open it still hurt to move and she really didn’t want to as well. Vinny came in and touched her cheek and she nuzzled right onto the feel of it for however brief it was. Bearded bear was such a comfort out of the little time spent with him.
But her eyes stared to the slowly darkening ceiling. Lyric’s word rang in her ears that Ash will be real soon and will help. Patiently Mahina waited and waited what fate will be in store. Exactly when her eyes closed, she didn’t know and the next thing that stirred her wake was the strong smell of highlands and the warming power of the one and only….Ashes. She turned and heard his words, the pain was still at an annoying level and her head nodded. Stark naked it took her a moment to sit up, feeling really stiff and she slid downward. Sitting on the edge to catch her bearings and since te flames it would be her first time to stand. Weakeningly and shakeningly she did and Mamma was coming to drop food off and immediately went to her, trying to get her back in bed. “No Mamma, I need to go to MY Ulfric, to heal me.” Mamma stared to her and against her better judgement she helped Mahina downstairs and to the living room where the others were and where Ashes was. She walked slow and her hand out to Ash, “please MY Ulfric do what you have to. I trust you completely."
"I wouldn't count the Lupa out yet. If what Evie says is true then whoever did this might have been controlling her."
That one comment from Vinny had her teeth grating and her temper reached a boling point! She was so sick of so much shit! Was it so hard to believe that Silent had made a mistake? She had run to Ohio when Ash vanished for a while and got involved with the damn Master of the City there! From Ohio she went to NO for god knows why! Did everyone underestimate her own gift to know the Vampire was doing nothing to the Lupa? Fingers curled painfully in to the strong hand that she held on to for dear life. Violet pools bored in to the bear making clean she knew just what she was talking about.
The tender tone of voice had gone away, there was angre seeded deep somewhere inside this woman! A violent affliction of animosity that bored deep down in to her core and there was no way to root it out. She had seen Silent to many times run... Run to one Master in Cincinnati when she visited Kyle and her there. Then no... She was positive of it all. There was a rift between the Necromancer and the Lupa, something she had tried to repair many times. But every time there was a chance Slent left for either Ash or Evie. She chose not to say anything, she could not trust her voice right now.
"This....thing that vampirella did to you vargamore. I think you should let Evie give you a feel, use whatever she has and see if she can do something about it. To block it or at least find out what it is. The girls got connections you know."
"Please call me Kota..."
She had not meant to snap at Vinny, was not his fault. No one other then those there when it happened would understand completely what was going on... Right now she just wanted to get a shower and wash the small of that woman off her body! The glass of whiskey was drained completely before pushing herself away from the table. A hand came to rest on Evie's shoulder in passing. She wanted to be mad at the woman for leaving Salem to go with Silent to NO. She wanted to be Jealous about the closeness between Ash and her, and was... But the jealousy She felt about Silent going to Evie and hardly speaking to her anymore was in the forfront and would not soon be put to rest. To often was she being pushed aside. IT was starting to wear on her.
"Latter... I would appreciate knowing just what I am dealing with before I kill it."
Then she left the room only after she had the chance to Kiss Memphis hard and aggressively upon the lips. She needed it, wanted it to hurt! Bruising her own lips against his just to push back the tears till she was alone. Ash would be home soon and this dread that she had not accomplished the tastes her set out for her hung over her like a black cloud. So scared of disappointing him... He had trusted her, with something so difficult for him to do. At lest half the job was done...
Warm shower, washed that perfume from her skin, eased the tightness in her shoulders and offered her a sanctuary to cry. 45 minutes under hot water the bathroom was filled in a fog cloud of steam that seeped out from under the door. The crashing of water helped to cover the sound of her sobs that escaped passed small hands cupped over her mouth. Dressed, her hair brushed and blow dried there was a sense of feeling someone Human again.
Everyone was gathering, but it was Harry who found her first. walking her out of a bed room where she was hiding to greet Ash and see to the Ulfric's need to be informed of what happened. Cypress was here! It loosened the tightness in her chest some.. that was till she saw Ash. Why was her heart pounding in her ears now? Stepping over and having to peer WAY up to look in to lightning kissed pools of endless blue.
"I'm a bit behind at work Marshall... Unforeseen events have caused a delay in the investigation."
Was an attempt at some humor, mixed with an explanation and nervousness.
So much was happening all at once that it seemed like the world had tilted on its ear. He let Evie go sit down with what looked like a glass of whiskey only after whispering for her to keep her wits about her. Vinny was showing him the screens and explaining the different precautions being taken when the scent of cherry blossoms wafted in. Turning towards the door Ash saw Cypress and a small sigh of relief left him without him thinking about it. She was safe which meant Brady was also safe. Part of him had worried that that would not be the case. When she came to greet him he denied her the usual formal greeting and just hugged her. That was enough.
"I'm glad you're back. I knew you would be here."
They were all here now, Ulfric, Freki, Hati, and Skoll. Only one peculiar absence in the leaders circle was apparent, but for now he couldn't allow himself to think about that, or to let his love get the better of him. If he gave into that then there was no telling what might happen. Cypress came to stand at his side and when she took his hand he gave it a squeeze but let it go just after. It was not a rebuke, it was that he wanted his hands free. Now was not the time for affections. Dakota came back next, hair a bit damp, but looking none the worse for wear. Or maybe the necromancer just hid it better than others. When she came over to him he gathered her up in a quick but warm hug to say thank you, something he didn't think he had ever done before. But just like with Cypress and Evie the moment of contact was short. His beast was restless and he was cold as ice with anticipation.
"We've got a good base here. The house is more protected for us than anywhere else on the island, and there's enough supplies here to last us awhile if we need to bunker down. Memphis I want you and Cypress to do walkthroughs of the house and grounds every half hour, switch off. Vinny you stay on the monitors. Everyone else will just stay inside with me, and Evie....you know what you can do for me."
Obviously mamma had the food situation under control, so that was one thing he needn't worry about, but so help him if the woman started chasing around trying to get him to eat he might just leave and go try to find the vampire alone. The only reason he didn't was that he was afraid the minute he left the pack again she would strike at them with avengence. His attention was drawn from the meeting circle of leaders to the stairs as Mahina was coming down. Moving towards her at that easy powerful gait he took her offered hand and led her into the wide open center of the living area, already prepared not to go into anaphalactic shock over the mess that would undoubtedly be made. His cool hand touched her cheek as he looked into her eyes.
"I'll make this as painless as I can."
Ash was very skilled at this so the experience should be little more than uncomfortable. Opening wide the doors of his darkly dreaming soul he sent power on slow waves towards the tropical wolf, his aura encapsulating her as his dark passenger seemed to flow from him to her, filling her skin and bringing her beast from it's sleep. Coaxing the girls animal forward gently her body would begin to waver unsteady but Ash kneeled down with her and eased her onto the floor. Slowly, almost like ripples in water her beast began to take over, pores in the skin opening as hair sprouted, bones moving like wax to reform, he did not rip her beast from her but gently orchestrated the change until a wolf and not a woman lay on the ground before him in a puddle of disgusting goo. Tattooed fingers stroked the wolfs fur and he sent the beast into the kitchen to feed. Some raw meat along with the change should have Mahina right as rain by the time she changed back. Standind back up, the knees of his pants soaked with liquid, he turned back to the others in the room. Now at last he would address his final worry.
"What do we want to do about those who have not answered the call?"
Can you say WHOA! Having Ash lift her off her feet like that and show that closeness made her a bit dizzy! Lilith words still spinning in her head were shoves back. God she wanted to shot that bitch! Arms laced around his shoulders for a moment, cheek rubbing against his brushing in to the thickness of his goat. This day just kept getting stranger and stranger. Inside she was falling apart, past and present all bombarding her from all sides made her head hurt, and the heart ached. Solid as a rock on the outside, wilting violet on the inside. When her feet met the floor again was a back step to get to Memphis's side. Handing him the Ace bandage so she could get it back on her wrist! It hurt like a bitch, sprains always did hurt more then breaks while they healed.
A kiss a reward for that of helping hands. Not knowing if she wanted to be alone...or wanted to be here. She wanted to run, just put on her running shoes and put miles behind her till she felt her lungs were about to burst and her knees would give out. But sometimes... our vices cant be our crutch. The sound of the door opening made her jump! Lani's happy voice echoed in the room and startled the necromancer. Kota was fighting to keep from looking frazzled, she had a case to work, she had to deal with this Vampire.. She had to help ash as much as she could right now.
The little Hawaiian wolf was followed by the tall male Kota had only seen once. Gabe... she tried to remember his name but for the life of her it was not coming to her tongue. That was almost everyone now... She needed to talk to Ash... explain what had happened... So waiting for him... that's what she did. Just waited till he was done with Mahina and Coyote.
Mahina would be mentally challenged to not say at this given moment in time, she was more scared shitless then fighting the vampire days ago. She allowed Ash to take her, shakingly she walked and she closed her eyes. She was not going to fight it, Koko who was curled deep inside, uncurled herself to the feel of the power that called her forth. Still as Mahina was lowered to the floor she still did not resist her Ulfric’s call. Koko came to surface, replacing skin with the silken-ness of silverish gray and white fur. The crunch and churn as bones reformed from legs to that of animal shaped and form. Wasn’t long as each took on her wolven form, head mold outward to her wolf muzzle and Koko was up and shaking the clear goo off. Lifting her head to sniff, she remained to the Ulfric’s side and padded into the kitchen where raw meat was there waiting for her. Koko kept a watchful eye on him before she went on to feast and engorge on the meat. The wolf moved out of the kitchen and padded back upstairs to the bed where it whined and laid down to lower it’s muzzle to her front paws and was finally closing her eyes and rest to at some point shift back to being a woman and be out in the next 8 to 10 hours. -- Edited by Mahina at 21:02, 2008-02-20
Coyote wasn't much aware of what was going on. He only knew certain members of the pack were around. He could hear and smell them. The Kansas boy was one crispy critter and all bandaged up. But at the arrival of the Freki did he wake up a little, enough to hear the warning as Harry picked him up and gasped as everything started hurting again and the flatline sound did not help. Scared the hell out of him considering he had a nightmare. But everything was all right, he had been placed next to Mahina breathing hard the body aches and shivers over the intensity. Luckily it wasn't going to last, the pain. The smell of rain is a godsend for someone who had been turned into fried chicken. Still everything was moving slow for the red wolf, as his mind precieved. His body was healing, tissue under the skin repairing and making that nightmare fade into the background and reality coming back. Hearing orders he looked confused for a moment. What clothes? They had been nothing but pieces and ash now. Movement was just slow, life was back just the recovery of focus was still off. Apparently he was moving too slow for Harry as he gets scooped up after Coyote had got out of the bed like a snail and placed into the cab next to Lyric. He felt like a ragdoll, leaning into her with little strength of his own and the world was spinning on the fasted cycle it could go on.
It was like an amnesiac trying to remember how to put a puzzle together. Everything was all jumbed out and laid out on the floor with no instruction mannual for Coyote. But one thing was certain, the pack was here. Some of them he's never had a chance to talk to but knows they a part of the family. Eyes would be open some of the time and closed the other half. One thing he found was Mahina against him on the bed and so was Lyric. Breathe. There he soaked in the warmth and lingers at the edge of sleep, thankful as all hell. Kansas boy was exhausted but then being dead for ten minutes does that to a person. At some point he felt someone ruffle his regrown hair. It would be one screwed up buzz-cut of a style. A good part of the pack was back and that feeling had Coyote want to drift off back into a snooze. You sleep when you feel safe and that he did. Lilith would be ripped apart if she stepped onto the pack's turf now. Especially when the Ulfric has come home. In the old pack he would had run and hide but Ash was nothing like that Ulfric. Plus Coyote had killed that demon of his past. Eyes open to watch Ash bring out the wolf in Mahina and not sure if he wants go through with that and Ash might agree. Before Elsa was killed and Ash gone to track down her murderer, Coyote had been an ass. There had been a lot going on inside his head. The pack knew Coyote's past experiences with others was no peaches and creams and he had a collar around his neck. Always refused to remove it, it was a reminder of what had happened. But someone did take it off, Kota did and unwittingly unleashed a twister inside the red wolf. Everythign he had burried deep into the back of his head came out all at once and frankly made Coyote into a dickhead. Kota's last words before the fight was her calling him selfish brat. But pack is pack and when Lilith dared to get Kota it was the brat who first climbed over the table and tried to sock the undead bitch in the face. Coyote was trying to be strong for once. Not the omega that tucks tail and hides but meets out with teeth bared and hackles up. But it killed him. He wasn't strong enough.
As Mahina was a wolf now Coyote looked over at the Ulfric and smiles all too bittersweet. Coyote had not said a word from being cut of life and brought back. With the world spinning he had some time to think and so the first words spoken should have some meaning. "..Sorry I've been a dick, Ash." Ash could take that as a yes but hopefully aware, much as Coyote is, that the beast behind the Kansas boy was one furious red wolf who would love nothing more than to rip the throat out of it's attacker. But for now he just lounges, so tired he could probably sleep a week away.
Kota's outburst had Evie starting, looking at the vargamore. She could feel her anger, her resentment. And while Evie would have normally chewed out anyone who was practically calling Silent a traitor, she stayed quiet. There was too much between them, and Kota had some righteous anger. Instead, Evie spoke quietly, gently to Dakota. "Whatever the reason is ... I'm sure Silent will explain herself. We'll just ... wait for her." And then, silence. Evie didn't want to fight, didn't want to argue with anyone. Not with all of the shit going down.
"This....thing that vampirella did to you vargamore. I think you should let Evie give you a feel, use whatever she has and see if she can do something about it. To block it or at least find out what it is. The girls got connections you know."
Evie could only nod her agreement. Now was not the time to be skittish about what she was born with, or about who would see it done. Scars were only scars, and the fact that she was here with the pack, even though she wasn't pack or vargamore any longer, proved that these people were her family. She'd have to open up herself to them eventually, and less with the 'bit by bit' philosophy. "Definately. I'll do whatever I need to do."
"Latter... I would appreciate knowing just what I am dealing with before I kill it." Evie nodded, touching the hand on her shoulder gently. She didn't want there to be any more distance between them, even if fixing the problem wasn't as easy as ripping off a bandaid. It would take time. Lots of time.
And then, the world brightened, at least for a moment. She felt Ash and Harry coming, even before he was in the house. She was on her feet, waiting. He didn't go to her first, which made perfect sense considering there were wounded people who needed help. Tons of it. Coyote and Mahina ... Jesus. Nobody deserved that. The memory of the fire licking at Silent had Evie closing her eyes, and when she opened them again, Ash was walking towards her. She embraced him fiercely, wrapping her bare arms around him in a clutching hug. They shared the same thought, about for once no being afraid for their own lives. It wasn't refreshing. Evie didn't want to see anyone in danger, especially not after she'd tasted the danger before.
She looked into his eyes after the kiss was laid to her head, listening silently. "I know you don't like to do it Evie, but if something happens I need to know that you'll help me open up our connection to Marcus. In a matter of life and death his strength could tip the scales." Evie nodded vigorously, looking around the room. "Anything to protect ... the family." Had she ever called them that outloud? She'd thought it for ages, but it felt nice to say. Family.
And every family's got to have the scary family member. Enter Cypress. She and Evie had had a interesting time of it, but if it meant more protection and therefore a greater chance for the family's survival, then Evie was happy as a dandelion to see her. She offered a small wave, trying her damndest not to look too awkward about it.
The arrival of naked Mahina down the stairs had her attention where it needed to be, however. It was time to do what she had to do, even as she averted her eyes, blushing from her neck to her ears. Ignore the naked. Do your frickin' job. Taking a deep breath, Evie lowered the shields that blocked her from Ash. Immediately she felt a pull to him, her eyes flying open, but she fought the urge, instead closing her eyes again. Focus, Evie. Slowly, she let the wall between herself and Marcus lower, opening herself to the sudden current of power. Warm and electrifying, and yet cold at the same time. The mixture of her two loves. She didn't have to tell Ash that the currents were open ... he could feel it himself. Evie would simply stand there, eyes closed. She didn't want to see the shift for fear that she might break her concentration and mess with the heads of Marcus or Ash.
It was only after she heard the sounds of a wolf that she opened her eyes. She'd never seen a full shift, and knew it'd freak her out. Something she needed to work on. Coyote was next, and to see him in his condition was enough to overwhelm her with sadness, which she quickly blocked from Ash and Marcus as best as she could. The paths between them open, ready to assist Ash again.
The only pack members not to arrive were Silent, Dylan, and Lexie. In the calm before the storm they set up a defense, rested and gathered together as a family. What occured next was what they had been preparing for.
(The log of play that was continued from these MB posts is in the log section. Liliths second strike)
-Lola was terrified, every inch of her body was tremoring and shaking with a combination of fear and anger. How could this be happening, how could any of this had happened. From the moment Vinny picked her and Pegene up Lola had been frazzled. The panda bear was already going half mad at that point and Lola was doing her best to calm the woman.Everything seemed calm, people resting, others resting in bed near her sharing their warmth and comfort and then it was like the entire world had flipped upside down. Lola sat boltupright in bed and heard Memphis in the hall starting to herd people into her and Pegenes room. Sitting up straight her eyes darted over those entering trying to find the one person she needed most, but Dylan wasn't there. Apparently he hadn't cared enough to come. Body gave a fine shake as she heard the chaos down below and she slipped out of bed and moved towards Lyric, wrapping tanned arms around the stronger woman. Where was Lexie? Or Dylan? Or Silent? Downstairs she knew that many were fighting, but the others should be there.-
"Please Lyric, don't leave me."
-It wasn't until much later that she finally left the room with Lyric to find Ash. Opening the door lightly she looked at a bed piled with people. Ash, Cypress, Memphis, Dakota. Some healing some just keeping vigil. Quiet as she could be she snuck over to the bed and burrowed under the covers, tucking herself in against Dakota. Peaceful eyes watched Lyric a moment to see her going to where Ash lay but then Lolas eyes drifted closed and terror was consumed by the blessed quiet of sleep.-
:: The call had been missed, phone was broken early in the day. It had fallen out of his pocket when he was working on a roof of the house that the crew he was apart of was working on. Before he could get to it it had gone tumbling off the roof and hit the ground shattering in too many pieces to count, swearing under his breath he knew there was nothing he could hope to do to fix it today. The larger pieces had been gathered up and shoved in the pocket of the work worn levi's. By the time he got the pieces back together there was screaming at him from the top of the roof to get his ass back to work. The country wolf knew enough that he might as well just go along with it. ::
:: The wounds from the snake on the back of his hand were still a bother so he had kept a glove on all day. Catching a few curious glances from those he worked with since he hadn't worn gloves since he started working at the construction company. The day went along as any normal one on the top off the new house off color jokes being thrown along with insults and curse words. Just as sure as the sunset came the crew was going out for drinks and Dylan decided it might be worth it to go with them. At least he could say the sober driver. Something he had no problem with. Even if that ment waking up and leaving the pile of bodies eariler then normal to pick everyone up from their homes and take them to the job site. ::
:: The night of driving his coworkers home had come to an end and when he was approaching the house something had felt wrong. The clashing of power from the Ulfric and the unknown source which Dylan could pick up as vampire, powerful enough that he was pulling the cross out from the cloth of the stained and ripped work shirt. A gun pulled out of his glove box and loaded with a sliver clip, all while he turned around and drove away from the pack house. No reason to return and give the vampire a bargening tool against the ulfric who he owed so much to. ::
:: A couple hours later the night was growing older and his truck had almost run out of gas. It was time to come back to the pack house to see if everything had calmed down. Steping from the truck that he parked a couple blocks away the gun held ready in the large hands. The heavy weapon felt good in the hot callused hands. The cross was still hanging from his neck huming gently with the holy white light, not sure if the undead was still close or if there was just something remaining. The house looked dark when he approached from behind, taking in a deep breath and checking for the scents of the rotting flesh that was telltale of a blood sucker. Everything seemed to be safe. Dylan was capable of taking care of himself and he was more then happy to see that no more harm was done to his family::
:: After a quick shower Dylan found a very full bed of various naked bodies, a soft smile holding his lips. Kota seemed to be in the middle of a puppy pile. How much he wanted to join would be held back, there was simply no room. Leanning over the bed he placed a soft kiss on the edge of Lola's soft lips and a gentle whisper to her ear. :: I am glad to see you are ok, I'm going to bed. Somewhere less crowded. :: Another kiss was placed to her forehead before the stubble ridden cheek brushed Kota's, Lyric's, and anyone else who was in the bed. Wishing he could stay with the bodies he left the room as quitely as he had entered going to find a bed less full no matter how lonely it would be.::
-As for the little hawaiian wolf, Lani had come in at the nick of time, with strong, handsome Gabe behind her. The pack house was extremely large, but even as the dogs piled in, Lani felt a little unease with all the new faces flashing before those beady, dark pools. Sure, she was a people person, but this being the first time at the pack house with almost every member here, Lani only squeezed Gabriel's hand a little tighter. Scents of all wolves had seemed to envelope the house like a tropical storm, and her own, saccharine aroma of hibiscus flowers entwined with the others. She hadn't even known that Mahina and Coyote were attacked by the viscious vampire, she managed to escape that evening when her mother called and said her brother Jo was in the hospital. Of course, that went well; Jo crashing into the rocks and ended up with a broken leg. There went his surfing career.-
-The wolves now were scattered about; some upstairs, some downstairs, some outside. It was like a family of twenty in one house during a hurricane, except the pack house has electricity and food and entertainment. Releasing Gabriel's hand, Lani strolled through the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water, and sat at the table, idly playing with the bottle cap. How could this have happened? They were all okay one minute, and the next, suddenly death and destruction? And now the pack is on lock down? She couldn't believe it, it was one thing after the other. Spidery digits combed through those bleach blonde tendrils, allowing the tips to fall gently against the small of her back. There were more important things that were needed to be tended to, and Lani only contemplated at the kitchen table.-
Memphis to her back, after the nightmare that had ripped though her head Kota wanted nothing more then to fill his strong arms around her. Her small hand clutched his wrist tightly fearing that he would move, unwind his arms from around her and that bitch would get back inside her head. The sobbing had ended, the violent shaking of shoulders no longer wracked her body. It was just an occasional little tremble that rolled over her as the dream imagery touched on things right out of hell... Or that was a resurfacing memory. Ash;s presence was felt, the melancholy Cypress and all her dark beauty. Lyric... and some where was Evie with them to? She could not remember who all was here when the lights had gone out in her eyes and the darkness of exhaustion sucked her down.
Lola's touch brought her up out of the abyss for only seconds. Long enough to loosen the death grip on her winter eyed lovers arm to make room for the sexy little fox. Slender appendage draped along her body tugging her in wanting the warmth. The security of as many as she could get her hands on. Then the void opened up once more, its black hands dragging her back in to the recurring visions. Was that Dylan? Eyes never opened, Chin raised only a fraction at the touch. A reflex more then a conscience reaction to his affection. The night had been... Hellish. And the nightmares had only just begun.
The night was one up on those nightmares, scared to wits end nights. So much pain, so many had to be injured or in her case die and return to the living. All because of one bitchy vampire. Mahina remained where she was told and after all was done and Ash spoke on no one leaving she was up on her feet and pulling Coyote with her to pile up on that huge bed. She got up right behind Lyric and pulled Coyote gently to be behind her. Lyric was the closest to Harry who was closest to Kota. Just like that night her and Coyote fought the red riding hood bitch, they fought to keep their packmate (sister) safe and since then, after Harry bringing them home, Mahina refuses to have Kota out of her sights. That night was hell and tonight was even worse. It gave Mahina the chills and mild shakes. The pain in her wrist was fading slowly and her hand stretched to touch along the arm of Harry that was around Kota. But it didn’t last long for sleep washed over the Hawaiian wolf and exhaustion. At least dawn will be coming and they will be safe from Lilith while she sleeps with the dead. When night falls again will see what will be in store for the pack. All will remain unity and protecting each other. And definitely protecting Kota.
Unease had crept around the vixen and her home, making her feel like a caged animal. There was no calming the russet-pelted fox that dwelled within, so she had left the house. Those incredible lycanthrope senses were put to full use, scanning her surroundings. With that restlessness, she had left her phone at the house, missing Vinny's call. Lex had not bothered to get her keys to take the car, merely left at a jog in worn jeans and a red t-shirt that had the sleeves ripped off. She didn't know where she was going to, only that she had to run. She wound up at Lola's house only to find that the woman was gone. Where would Lola have gone? She didn't know where the other foxes lived in town and so she had no way of checking up on them.
Something was dreadfully wrong, though she could not tell what that might be. Perhaps she was simply feeling dread due to the death of one of the pack? She raced home to find her phone beeping its alarm from a missed call. How long had she been gone from the house? She couldn't remember.
The first words to leave her mouth after listening to that message were not at all lady-like or even socially acceptable. She grabbed her duffel bag and threw items she would need into it, including several of her knives, though they weren't her preffered weapon of choice. Still, they were useful and might come in handy.
"Bloody shite." Grabbing her keys and cell phone, she threw things into the red beast she called a car and roared out of the garage, speeding away. If she had just stayed in the house she wouldn't have missed the call, she would have been with the pack so much sooner. She was furious with herself, racing down the street toward her destination. She nearly rolled the car as she took a turn too sharply. The brakes were slammed as she wound up outside, her beast racing ahead to alert those who were likely on guard that she was there and heading in.
Anger lent her speed and she made it from the car to the door in nearly a second flat. Once inside, she leaned against the door, throwing all the locks into place and sending her senses flaring out to find everyone that was inside. Her bag was tossed to the side where it wouldn't be tripped over, before she went to look in on everyone. People were injured, she could tell that without seeing anyone. Her power flitted around her, not contained with the niggling dread and anger at herself. Would there be less injuries had she arrived sooner? Why did it seem that she would always be arsing things up?
She checked on those downstairs first, then made her way upstairs. A slight nod to herself and she returned downstairs, heading into the kitchen. Hands rested on the counter on either side of the sink, her head lowered as she took in the scents that permeated the house. This was the cause of her unease then, wasn't it? A single tear trickled from her closed eyes. She should have been here sooner. She wouldn't blame any of them if they were angry with her. She deserved it, though she didn't think that her presence would have made any significant difference except in perhaps calming the less powerful in the house.
"Never again." A whispered promise. Never again would she be so slow in responding to a call from the pack.
Gathering herself, she walked the house repeatedly, like a guard on duty, determined to make up for her slowness. She had failed at something important and that was not a pleasant feeling. Adrenaline faded, leaving her weary, but she never ceased in walking the house, checking out the windows, and looking in on the others. Even when her feet began to shuffle and her eyelids drooped, she refused to stop.
