-It was a brand new day, meeting Ash Redfern, the leader of the pack. Poor little wolfie, all alone in this big world of wolf, and she hadn't found a family to claim. Earlier this afternoon, she stumbled into the Tiki Hut, and found Ash, sitting all lonesome, and who no better than to talk to him? Lani of course, the easy-going, carefree surfer that will talk to anyone. He gave her his business card, with two numbers: one was to his office, and the other was to the pack house. Assuming that the second number was one she really needed, she picked up her hot pink phone, and dialed the number to the house. Ring! Ring! Ring! No answer. So, she left a message.-
"Aloha! Um, I just received dis card from Ash Redfern, and he told me to call dis numba, so he'a I am, calling dis house! I'm Lailani Rashel O'no, a year old wolf, and lookin forah Mister Ash. Der are probably lots of you livin he'a, so it would be greatly appreciated, if Mister Ash don't get dis message, dat one of you guys pass it on. T'anks! Aloha! Oh yah, here's da numba to reach me at; 228-3945. Surf's up!"
-Lyric had gotten the message. She didn't move into the pack house per say. They all piled into her large apartment for the moment. A new place was being built, or rather renovated for the Pack. They had dropped in number from how they were in Salem. But, anyway. The little red light on the answering machine was blinking. Saying, it had a message. Hitting the play button the voice of Lailani came through. A small smile formed, as she grabbed her cell phone to hit 2, on her speed dial. Which connected her to her Ulfric's cell phone. She felt like the assistant, without the real title of it. It suited Lyric just fine.
"Daddy, some darlin' called for yeah. Lailani is her name, she would like ta talk ta ya when ya gets the chance. The numba is 228-3945."
Lyric read it off as the woman said it.
"Oh, by da way, Mamma's cooked ya some chitlins and green beans fo dinnah. Love ya."
Lyric left the message on his cell phone when he didn't pick up. After the woman's message, the rest played on through. One from Cypress, that was directed to her. Lyric would write down Lailani's number down just in case.-
At the moment the "house" looked more like a place where 2X4s go to die. The foundation was laid and something that resembled support beams were there, but at the rate things were going Ash wondered if he wouldn't have been better just praying that God would drop a house on them. Hey, it worked in Oz. Talking to the foreman had not been going well until Ash put his hand on his hip, pushing back the edge of his pinstriped suit jacket, revealing not only the holster for his dual Mark XIXs but also the shiny badge hooked to his belt. After that things went swimmingly. Funny how that works. As he started making the trek back towards the H2 he slipped a hand into the breast pocket of his coat and fished out the slim black cellphone that had buzzed somewhere in the middle of his transaction. Flipping it open he pressed in the code to get his messages and heard Lyrics sweet jazzy voice on the other end. When she mentioned Lani Ashes thick brow lifted in a slight curve. He hadn't expected the girl to call so soon after their meeting. Wondering if something was wrong he quickly commited the number to memory and as soon as he was finished listening to his messages he punched in her phone number. The ringer went off three times before her answering service picked up, and at the beep he cleared his throat and started in without giving a name, after all the accent was a bit of a giveaway.
"If it's important to you to see me then be at the Kapua Coffee Shop at seven o'clock (insert date)morning. I'll be there for half an hour."
No hello, no goodbye. Swift and to the point was more his style when it came to phone conversations. Luckily the cultured British accent tended to make even his shortness seem polite. After hanging up he called Silent and left a message on her phone as well.
"Silent, I'm gonna be late getting back tonight. I'm sending in requests to bring Sphinx in from Salem as part of my team here. With that and paperwork things are going to be....less than perfect. I met a new wolf today. Check the messages at the house and you'll hear her. Anyway, clear your schedule for seven o'clock (insert date) so we can go visit with her. Alright love, see you when I get done."
Silent was the last to get the messages....But then again she had been busy trying to help the Capt and the gang that had followed her from new orleans get settled into their new place. Not to mention Help Vasha find a new location for the hookah. She hadnt planned on bringing it to Hawii but her and Coyote needed their own haven...And the kitchen was just that.
When her cellphone started to let out those mornful sounds of tori amos Sil would once again get lost in the song and totally forget that it was her ringtone. It wasnt till the phone started to vibrate in her back pocket did she realize that she had missed a call. Pulling it out she would see Ashes number on it...Sigh some she would shake her head...Yes she needed to change that ringtone. Calling him back she would get his voice mail...Damn.
"Awwwww...Alright Ill have Lyric leave ya dinner in the oven. Oh me and the Capt found the perfect place for the hookah....And a new wolf? Cant wait to meet her...I almost thought that we would be the only wolves here. Anyways...Ill have some B-n-J waiting for ya when you come to bed. And that movie....The one ya got me in Salem...We should watch that again! Luvyabai"
A few kissie nosies would follow before she tucked the cell back in her back pocket and got out of the beat up chevy truck of the Capts and made her way into Lyrics house..
" Soonnggggbbiirrrrddddd."
Was all that could be heard in that deep nawlins accent As she looked for the she wolf...Hoping to get filled in since she wasnt sure if the message had been erased or not.
