Roman saw himself and Amber from his flat to the club. She'd been staying with him for the last week since she'd fled the Lighthouse. Clearly a bit on edge, he'd been gentle and watchful of her while she stayed in his neatly organized flat. His gear had been delivered, from weapons to workout items. And everything was carefully put in it's place.
Now that they'd found a chane, he'd taken them both to the club. By the end of the night they were oathed. The master's blood in theirs, the bond filling them. It brought him strength and power. Warmed him with emotions normally less strong. In Amber it seemed to stabilize and humanitize her, calming her raging mind's thoughts. Feeding her blood lust for the night, they retreated to his flat again at the end of the evening.
For now she was in his charge. His to train and raise from her fledgling status. To protect and guard, as well as see safely into her new kiss. Despite his being new to it. An interesting side of the master, he'd thought when given the tasking.
That night before the morning's rays sent them both to sleep, he sat with her inside the protected vault at the center of the flat, after explaining his schedule. He taught classes at the school, studied and wandered the city. For now that was his life, till the master told him otherwise. "What will you do?" His soft baritone questioned her, asking if she would accompany him on his nights, or go her own way. If she wanted to shadow him, or live on her own when he was occupied.

She had gone to Bliss, not entirely knowing what to expect, walking like a shadow behind the only person in the city who she thought she could trust besides the master who'd taken her in previously. It was that Master, Marcus, who found her and Roman that night. It was a meeting she was sure she'd never forget. Marcus made her feel safe. He somehow washed away all the clouds that filled her head, cleared her thoughts, helped her feel more like a person. All in a single moment when she bound herself to him. She was grateful beyond words. And calmly accepting and happy that Marcus had asked Roman to watch over her.
So far, he'd been very kind to her. He'd helped her when she was sure no one would. She trusted Roman, and was looking forward to learning what she could from him. The fact he was hundreds of years old, and a Master himself, wasn't at all lost on her. It actually served to confuse her slightly. She'd only been a vampire for slightly over four years. Before Marcus had ever asked him to take charge of her, he had done so of his own accord. But why? She was like a small lump of coal sitting to next to a glorious and beautiful diamond when she was compared to Roman. To anyone, really. So why even bother to take care of her in the first place? She'd ask him eventually.
After the Master left them at Bliss, she ended up feeding from Diego. The snake was as much of a mystery to her as Roman was. She was still trying to understand the pull she felt to him. His blood beckoned her. The few times she'd had the pleasure and confusion of running into him, she could taste his blood before she even fed. His addiction to pain wasn't her cup of tea. But she wasn't about to pass up a meal that could sustain her for as long as Diego's blood seemed to do. And what was more, Diego gave it freely. Willingly. Just for a little pain. But there was more to it than that, she thought. More to why she even allowed this... strange 'deal' to keep going. Roman had called Diego her toy, her meal. She didn't see him as a toy. Not sure what she saw him as, but it was anything but a toy. After she'd fed from him, taking as much as she dared, giving him the last of his enjoyment before he passed out, she'd sat with him cradled against her till Roman decided it was time for them to go. They took him to a motel where he could sleep off his satisfaction in safety. Then they went back to Roman's flat.
She was sitting there with him now, her back to a wall of the vault, knees pulled up to her chest with her arms wrapped around her legs in the smallest most comfortable position she could get. She didn't like the vault much. It made her wary, brought back memories and images still so raw inside her. It was too much like being back in a cell, tied down with silver chains, held back by silver crosses, caged in by silver bars. Funny that a mineral could do so much to hold one person. The difference here, though, was she could walk out any time she wanted. And it was a thing for safety from the effects of day. Not a thing to keep her prisoner.
She listened as Roman spoke about what came to his mind. She was an attentive listener. But she was always so quiet, someone might think she was ignoring them. But not Roman. He seemed to be alright with her quiet and somewhat aloof demeanor. His question, though, made her look straight at him. Those chocolate hues sparkling with confusion. After a moment, she shook her head, brows furrowing. "I don't know." she said honestly. "I just... I..." she began to feel nervous again, that utter confusion and clouded substance filling her head again. She closed her eyes and shook her head. What would she do? She didn't know. Hadn't thought about it. All she'd ever thought about was making it to another night.
Was there more than that? If there was, she didn't know it. Just one more thing she had to learn, apparently. "Stay here." She managed to get out, though her voice was a little strained. She wanted to stay here with Roman. Despite the vault, she knew she was safe here. Safe was good and something she'd had so little of. "Please..." was the last thing she said before the press of dawn came down upon them. She slipped to her resting place slowly, like the life emptied out of her, turning her into a still, pale, unmoving corpse. Roman would have heard that plea, he would be the last to fall to 'slumber' out of the two of them. All she could hope for was when nightfall came, the clouds in her head would be gone and she could see things a little clearer...
Roman gave a faint nod and watched the confusion slide over her face. He didn't need to be her master to know that her mind was not clearly her own or well ordered. Nor did he need to be a master to realize that without Marcus's constant touch her natural state was bound to re-assert itself. "Of course, Amber." His soft Parisian tones slid over her as she descended to the daylight death of nearly all vampires.
More resistant, he rose and scooped her up off the floor. Stretching out on the bed in the small room, he settled her agaisnt his shoulder as he closed his eyes to await his own rest. He'd have to talk with Marcus soon, about a variety of things. Not the least of which was Amber. But that was for another night. And that was the greened vampire's last thought before the sun's rising claimed him as well.
Evening brought a slow wakening. He stretched and felt the dead weight of the other vampire on his shoulder still. She yet slept while he woke to the setting sun. He'd yet to see the sun set, but he knew of vampires who had seen it indirectly. Age, strength and unique abilities counted for much at times.
Rather then leave her to wake alone, he stayed there, plotting the evening. He had several classes to teach till nearly midnight when the last student would leave. Then he was reasonably certain that Amber would want to check on her toy. Which reminded him that she didn't see the lycan that way. A sure problem in the making. Beyond that, he knew his night to be free, time spent with Amber, he reasoned, training her as he had been.
Though some of that would need to wait, he thought amusedly. Marcus would have his own rules for his city, after all.
