The gift was a simple thing really, just a small rectangular square wrapped in brown paper. It was sitting oh so innocently on the bed in the loft. That brown paper looking very shabby in comparison to the vibrant colors of the patchwork quilt Ash kept on the bed no matter the season. Around the middle a piece of twine was tied into a ribbon that was cute, but not very artful. A small cluster of daisies was slipped through the knot adding a touch of color to what was otherwise uninspired. When Silent returned to the loft to find this package she would probably pick it up, and find that underneath was a small white envelope with just her name scrawled on the front in that careful elegant cursive that Ash used. Would she open the present first or the envelope? If it was the envelope she would find a plain white card inside monogrammed in the bottom right corner with the initials A.R., two guesses who that was, and inside would be that same script: "Silent, It's silly but I saw this and thought of you. Thought of us. I don't have a boombox, or a window so I will let him do the serenading for me. Let's sneak away and watch it sometime. -Ash P.S. Steal some of Elena's Phish Food ice cream for movie night. Shhh" Once the note had been read and she opened the brown wrapping paper she would find a DVD case for a movie he had seen a long time ago. At the time he had found it ridiculously sentimental, but he was starting to think that sentimental might not be such a bad thing. __________________
