Rustle of paper bags, 100% recycled paper brown bags, echoed in the small foray of the house. A thud of a boot, then another followed. Metal crashed in the coconut shaped key dish. Socked feet brushed across the freshly polished wood. Felt good underneath the layer of cotton on Jane's feet. Paper brown bags held in one gloved hand. Boots in the other carried towards the kitchen. Paper bags met the granite counter top of the kitchen. Socked feet turned heading towards the stairs. Her room was up there, right next to Brady's. Her beast gave a shudder. One that transcended to its human counterpart. Goose bumps riddles bare arms. The sleeves of her cotton dress shirt had been rolled up to her forearms. A deep green color to offset her Aztec gold eyes. Jeans, softer than butter, encased her lower half. A belt around her trim athletic waist, with an obnoxiously large belt buckle in an antique gold metal. It bore a cowgirl riding a bull with the caption of 'one wild ride'. One of Jane's favorite buckles.

Taking the stairs two by two to reach her room. Most of the house seemed quiet enough. Knowing the Horde they were all busy doing what made them special. Painting, building, baking and tinkering god knew what. Jane would never understand how all these different kinds of people came together and stayed together. Whatever the reason, she silently gave thanks to it. Eyes glanced in the direction of Brady's room, as she passed it. a deep breath pulling in her Khan's scent when she walked by the slightly open doorway. Pushing her own door open, she dropped her shoes by the frame. Gloves were worked off while Jane walked into her room. One finger hitting the ON button of her laptop. It powered up as she moved around. Work clothes were replaced with more comfortable house clothing. Jeans with many little rips in them, a plain white men's shirt. The shirt had been stolen from one of the single men in the horde. By the size, she was guessing it was either Jason's or Jude's. It did smell slightly like coffee beans.

Tiger striped nails tapped at the black keys of her laptop. Facebook popped up, checking her family side of things before shutting it off. E-mail came next, then it was closed once again. Socked feet headed out the door, down the stairs and back to the kitchen once more. On the drive home, Jane felt like making dinner for the Horde. The kind of dinner that she was used to back home. Only thing missing was Mama's homemade apple pie. There was steaks in the bags, potatoes and peas. Jane did buy a dessert. Lili might get upset cause it was store bought and not made by her. Jane was itching for some apple pie tonight. Didn't care to much to wait for the pint-sized Bradshaw to make it.

Pie was set in the oven. It was one of those pre-made need to oven types. At least it was partly homemade, and that was alright in Jane's head. Hitting the buttons on the oven she set it to bake. Of course after taking all the plastic stuff off of it. Steaks were removed from the bag next. Taking a knife she opened the plastic, set them in a metal pan with some seasoning. The potatoes came next, and she seasoned them as well, then the peas. Reaching over, middle knuckle flicked on the radio by the cabinets. Country music blared out of the small speakers. The wonder of satellite radio. The joy of having music from home without being home.
