Front Page - Massacre Stuns City

In an unfortunate turn of events what was supposed to be a night full of merriment and drinks, shared by friends or souls looking to escape reality if only for a little while, became a night Rome will not soon forget.

Sometime after the hour struck 21:00, four men and one women entered the Big Mamma's Blue's Bar, one of the newer establishments in Rome, and proceeded to massacre the people inside.

In the turbulent times we live in today every day violence has become the status quo. Which in itself is a sad commentary on today's society. Earthquakes, wars, random acts of violence are looked upon and are shrugged away. Politely excused as just how the way the world is. Or we seek out a specific reason to blame. Television, video games, socioeconomic status. Anything and everything to neatly explain away a cause for wanton violence and destruction so that we may say with conviction "it will never happen to me." A thought no doubt held at one point in time by the victims of last night's massacre.

Four individuals with no respect for the sanctity of human life have entered a public establishment and brought death to those whose only crime was going out for a good time.

The identities and motives of the four attackers is yet unknown. The identies will take time to establish but the motive may always remain a mystery. The Medical Examiner believes drugs may be a cause. Certain narcotics such as PCP have a history of being a cause for many a violent behavior. People running on chemically enhanced rage feel no pain and they most certainly feel no mercy as evidenced by the gruesome seen at Big Mamma's Blues Bar.

According to one of the survivors, who whishes to remain anonymous for fear of retribution, describes the four attackers as "deformed. There was something wrong with their eyes and mouths. Their teeth were all over the place like fangs, what ever they were on made them strong, and fast. It was chaos, they attacked everyone and everything!"  Fangs? Could the attack have been perpetuated by vampires? "No" said  Captain Christopher Loreto of the Roman Policia. "These were not Vampires. People should not believe everything they see in movies and television. Do not panic and leave the investigation to the Policia." Vampires or not the fact remains that very few were very lucky to remain alive.

The one glimmer of a silver lining among the dark clouds of last night's events is the mysterious deaths of the assailants. By the time the Policia and other emergency response services have arrived at the scene, the four attackers have been permanently subdued. The wounds ranged from extreme fire damage to fatal head wounds.

Last night's events will be remembered as they should be. The lives lost in bloody violence should not be forgotten or turned into just another crime statistic. To make sure that is done a joint memorial service to honor the lost souls will be held on Sunday at the Church of Holly Esther where his Holiness, Cardinal Romberto will hold a multi-cultural service at 10:00, 13:00, and 18:00 hours. All are welcome to attend.

As of right now a full list of victims as yet had not beel released to the public.
