"I already toldja that too." Llidya glanced over to Dina as she pouted in the passenger's seat. A heavy silence filled the interior of the 1967 Chevrolet Impala as Chapman rested her head on her left hand, the elbow resting on the door. She sent a sidelong glance to Dina as they rode in to the soft sounds of Rush. She dropped her hand as she started talking again, making the next turn in the journey. "Look it's not forever all right? Just until you finish school."
"You went off on a world tour-"
"After I finished school." Well, that wasn't exactly true. Llidya had stopped just short of actual graduation, but if she had stuck around she would have actually graduated. But that was besides the point. Dina hmphed again and didn't say anything for a long moment.
"All right. I'll finish school."
"That includes college."
"But-"
"College." Another pause.
"Fine." A slow smile curved Chapman's lips and it was all she could do to keep from laughing. She didn't want Dina to think she was laughing at her, which she wasn't. She wanted to laugh at the situation, maybe the irony of it all.
"Good." They'd been having the argument since Hungary, or rather, not having as Dina had been sulking and Llidya'd been too angry to talk. It was only when they had about thirty minutes in the car together did they actually start the conversation. And that thirty minutes was almost up. Llidya could see the Hilton just down the street. "How long you guys gonna be in town?"
"Until the wedding, for sure."
Llidya didn't say anything, instead pressing her lips together. They pulled up to the hotel, and she threw the car into park. She didn't want to talk about it, really, and instead focused on the fact that Dina was here. "Well good, then maybe we can get together and well, you know, converse..."
At those words, Dina chuckled, and pulled the latch on the door."Sure thing."She stepped out of the car with her duffel bag and slammed the door. She turned back and leaned over to look in the window."Tell Ash I said hi, would ya?"
It was Llidya's turn to chuckle, and she nodded. "Yeah. And next time you want to go off where ever...you let us know so we can talk you out of it, eh?"
"Yeah. Sure thing."She glanced down, then back at Llidya. She looked as if she wanted to say something, and then changed her mind. "Thanks for coming after me."
Llidya nodded, that trademark Chapman smirk settling on her lips. "Yeah don't make a habit of it." Dina's face mirrored her mother's at that moment, and then she straightened and turned to go face the music, as it were. Llidya watched her form retreat a moment before she pulled the Impala into drive and took off. Aryca knew they were coming. As promised, she'd kept in touch with her twin through very brief conversation and text messages. Now it was time for her to go back to the pack and face her own music. Llidya grinned at the thought.
