Fingertips brushed across the soft pale gray tissue paper. Pushing down the paper into the package. It made the crinkling sound as all tissue papers did. What the decorative paper covered were three pairs of gloves in different colors. White, black and one that changed colors depending on what was around it. Of course it was not a fabric found in nature. She had a witch create it for Aurora.
A gray ribbon was pulled tight across the stark white of the gift box. Satin slipped though aurora's fingers with a hiss. A bow finished the decoration on the box. The ribbon could be reused. another smaller box was set on the first larger one. The card taped to the smaller box.
On top of the card it read simply "Evangeline" in Aurora's elegant cursive handwriting.
Within the card the script read:
Mon précieux Evie. I am sending you three pairs of gloves, one of which you may find rather interesting. They are all enchanted for your protection. Do not worry about wearing them, they are made with strong materials. The same goes for washing them.
Evie seemed the type to worry about little things like washing them, especially the chameleon set and thinking she might ruin the magic or the fabric.
Within the smaller box I have placed two rings. One is your perfect fit. This ring will bind to you once you wear it. It will fit which ever finger you place it on. The other ring is made for a person of your choosing. The rings will allow you to touch this person freely without your glove or your gifts interfering. This is any sort of physical contact. Please choose wisely. The ring will stop working if more than one person wears it. It will bind with them just the same as your ring will bind to you.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday, mon précieux Evangeline. It was signed with an elegant A and nothing more.
The boxes were handed to the tall gentleman who had on a courier's outfit. The man left her side, as she took in a deep breath. Her body was feeling weak. Walking carefully to her bed she would take a seat. Tobias looked at her as she bowed her head. Her breaths came in short gasps. Walking over to he handed her a crystal clear glass of water. The glass slipped from her fingers. He grabbed it before it shattered. The liquid only spilling on the cuff of his shirt. Tipping her head back he helped Aurora take down the liquid. Those dark fingers brushing across her forehead which was beaded with sweat.
"It will pass Tobias... I just need some rest."
Having created the rings took a lot of personal power to give Evie a wonderful gift. Aurora just hoped that Marcus would be the one to wear the other ring. If she knew her Evangeline, then he would wear it.
Now that Marcus and Loke had come back from Tibet, Evie hadn't been checking her mail as studiously. But, the urge seized her one foggy day, and she was loathe to ignore any of her random urges. It's how she usually got into trouble.
She certainly hadn't been expecting a package. Her birthday was not for another few days, but hell. A present was a present. As long as it wasn't Gwyneth Paltrow's head, she was cool. Skipping up to the top floor of her villa, Evie read the card first. Her jaw dropped lower and lower, with each thing she read. With the card in one gloved hand, Evie opened the box with another.
"Holy shiiiit." Magic gloves? Sure, all of her gloves were enchanted, but ... fucking chameleon gloves? She could rob banks now! Or, something! Taking off her ratty gloves, Evie slid the new ones on, thankful that the spell held tight. No images of how it was enchanted. Just blissful nothing. Putting her hand on her white bedspread, Evie giggled with glee as the gloves turned white. "Awesome! Just -- awesome!" Clapping her hands, Evie continued to read.
When it came to the rings, her heart started fluttering. And then skipping beats. And finally sputtering to a stop. A ring, to allow her to ... touch. With nothing to see. Just ... her skin, on someone else's skin, or hair, or lips ... just touching. Forever. One wearer. She knew already who she'd give it to, and the idea thrilled her. Terrified her. Awoke something inside of her stomach and lower that made her fidget and gasp.
Staring at the rings, Evie reached to the necklace she still wore. Next to Loke's heart, still hung Aurora's crystal. Tapping into that energy, that thread that bound them and that Evie still drew strength and hope from, Evie sent a simple message accompanied by the love and gratitude her empathetic heart gushed.
The message came in like a flutter of butterfly wings. The love filling the message from Evie's mind. Aurora smiled. Her lips lifting in a curve that was truly beautiful. That was all she had wished for Evie. How had a girl like her change a woman who honestly felt her heart was made of the hardest stone known to man kind. She now understood why Marcus had picked her. Even if it had started out as a necessity to save the dark haired Ulfric. Evie had such a gentle way about her. Aurora had scanned the girl's mind enough to know this.If the gargoyle had been a lover of women, she could see herself with a girl like Evangeline.
I love you too mon précieux.
Her mind sent back the response, filled with love as well. A love Evie could wrap around her and know she was cared for and protected.
