It was pitch dark. Save for the small flashlight Aiden held within his teeth, pointed downward. In glove covered hands was a beautiful piece of art. Those light blue eyes rolled over its details. Really, it was an old jar. But hey, it was very well preserved, roman art. It most certainly was one hell of a discovery...
Thats when the lights came back on, prematurely. And an alarm started to sound.
His eyes went wide as his head lifted. His hand quicly snatched the flashlight from his mouth and pulled the black ski-mask over his face. His flashlight would find a spot on his belt, along with a few other clipped on gadgetry, and he'd lower a backpack at his feet that seemed modified. The jar was carefully placed into it, and he began to close it up, which involved more then one zipper, and a sorta...ziplock system somewhere in there to boot...Thats when he heard it. It was classic.
"Hey! Stop right there!"
Fat old security guard yelled through the now light museum floor, surrounded by various other artifacts. As he pulled his radio to call for backup, Aiden was slipping his arms through the shoulderstarps. The bag was worn infront, and as soon as it settle Aiden took his first step towards the exit. Sprint soon to follow.
"Suspect wearing black cloths, heading for B-wing from the main hall."
The security guard kept a decent pace, though the much younger man easily slipped from his view around a corner, and he'd catch up just in time to see him slip around another. Aiden was just too quick.
With one security guard in the dust, he'd fully expect to see another on his way towards the door. Jumping out from some corner somewhere in an attemp to save the day. And it was exactly that. Nearly an ambush. A luckly convergence of two people running through a building...
"Raa!"
Someone yelled, as they both speedily turned a corner to see someone running at them. The security guard lowered, in the little time he had, to try to tackle the suspect. But he was ready for it. Both his hands had immediately outstretched to grab the man, and use his momentum to toss him from one side of the hall to the ground on the other. This had a drastic effect on Aidens own momentum, and the fact that the guard was grabbing at him while he was lightly tossed didn't help either.
Aiden emerged from the breif scuffle, stumbling, and struggling to keep his footing. To no avail, he'd start for the ground. A quick reflex pulled his arms in, and he'd do his best to spin and land on his side, which he'd barely accomplish, and with a grumble questioned his success. No matter. The security guard was all ready on his feet, and Aiden needed to be also. The door was so close.
Just down the hallway was a side exit. For emergency use only. Aiden barely had the time, or the space, to get himself up to a sprint again, slightly stumbling to the door before slipping out of it. The security guard was close behind...
Into the street you could hear the sirens coming. The buidling had been totally cut off from the power grid, and a backup generator needed to be destroyed to get inside. So not only were the police being called to the scene, the local firestation was alerted also. Aiden would have walked out if they weren't so quick to get the power back...
Anyway.
He'd need to run a block or two before he could make his grand escape. He needed to get to one of the canals that webbed the beautiful, partially submerged city. And with a glance back, he was assured he would get away, as the distance between him and his pursuer was just right. It was only a few yards, but that was just fine...
As he ran he reached down to his belt once more, to grab what looked to be a small canister with a mouth peace, through, he'd hold it in his hand while he ran...nearer and nearer to a small bridge that crossed one of Venices many waterways...And once he reached it, he jumped over the ledge, and with a light spin put his back to the water.
Splash.
The security guard was quick to dive on in after him, but when he surfaced and looked around he would see no one. It often happened when the person you followed into the water had the equivalent of a few more breaths of air...
