She had been riding her chopper when she had seen the place the first time. Thought nothing of it. Now, she was backtracking her mind to where it was. It looked like a plain Witchcraft store. Much like the one she'd seen a million times over in Salem and in Hawaii. The one in Hawaii had been really interesting. The last one she had step foot into was the one in Salem. That's where she had met Lelani. After that witch, Jane swore off all mojo magick. She didn't walk into wicca stores or even look through the glass. They didn't exist in her world. Lani had left a sour taste in Jane's mouth for those sorts of things. It was now that she was searching for such a place.
Bucky said he was a mystery. Jane didn't think he'd lie about that. Which is why she was looking for one of these places. When she remembered Bucky's crypt. She didn't hear the music of Bliss. So maybe she had been wrong in thinking he lived there. Maybe he lived in the cemetery, which is where Aria and she first encountered him. But Rome had too many graveyards. It would take Jane a few weeks or months before she'd find where he lived. The last resort was asking Ash. He had to know or at least know of this vampire. Jane would take care of it herself. Right now was heading to that shop and seeing if the shop owner knew how to create a locator spell or some nonsense.
Jane wasn't really aware on how this stuff worked. But she did believe in it. Lani taught that much. She had seen that witch possessed and nearly harm Milo and Ash in the process. So Jane believed.
Chopper rolled across the asphalt. The streets perfect for the motorcycle to break through. It rolled over the ground dodging and weaving through the cars with expert ease. Jane allowed her beast to guide her as she tried to remember where the shop was. It was one more street before Jane finally saw it. Behind her sunglass her eyes lit with determination. Parking the bike along the sidewalk. Kickstand in place, keys were pocketed in her coat. Boots hit the ground soon after heading to the door of the shop. The little bell overhead sounded her arrival.
The woman that came out to greet Jane was a brunette. An older woman, with dark black hair. Shorter than Jane, but with an aura that said she was rather powerful. Heading closer to the counter Jane put on her best smile. That half cocked smirk that was not exactly a smirk and it couldn't be really called a true smile either.
“Howdy there darlin’. Ah’ma kinda lookin’ fo somethin’. Maybe ya’ll can help me.” Jane’s southern accent was all natural. The Vegas born Oklahoma bred southern woman had just a way about her some days. The brunette introduced herself as Scarlet. Jane offered a gloved hand to shake introducing herself as Mary Jane instead of just Jane. They talked about what Jane was looking for. The woman looked perplexed. Jane explained about the vampire, and Scarlet seemed to understand.
After what felt like hours and after a few cups of coffee, spiked of course on Jane’s part, did they finally come to a conclusion and what Scarlet could do for Jane.
Which is how she found herself in that moment. The smell of herbs burning around them. The room felt warm, welcoming. The smell of the herbs were relaxing. Scarlet was mixing something. Jane wasn't sure what the woman was putting into it. It didn't look good. In fact it didn't smell all that pleasant. Scarlet's lips moved in time with her actions. The words weren't something Jane knew or even what language.
The spell Scarlet explained that it was an individual experience and often very emotional and spiritual for the person. The spell would open things that the person needed to know. That the ether for a few minutes would open and could be accessed by someone that did not have its powers. Jane nodded understanding what was to happen.
In truth Jane didn't know what she was getting herself into. That concoction could actually make her sick. It was a risk she was going to take. Scarlet said to think about what she wanted before drinking the potion. Jane wanted to find Bucky, wanted to find him and know what she could about him. That was the main thing on her mind. There were other questions that troubled Jane. None of them she was thinking about on the surface.
Wooden bowl touched her hands as Scarlet whispered some words. The brunette looked so mythical in the setting. The wild dark hair and her presence. Taking a deep breath, she could smell the nasty stuff Scarlet put in the bowl. Waiting for the cue, Jane would press the bowl to her lips and drink it down. The first taste of the stuff had her turning away wanting to puke. Scarlet pressed the bowl more to Jane's lips to help her drink the rest of it down. It tasted like horseshit and road kill with a dash of melted down tires. Not something Jane wanted to repeat ever again. Maybe if there was a whole fifth of whiskey in this she could have swallowed it down better.
Before Jane knew it the bowl was empty. Her head felt dizzy. A gloved hand pressed to her forehead. "Ah think this shit is ju-" Down Jane went like a ton of lead. Her hat falling from her head as she passed out. Sleep took the tiger forcefully.
Lashes lifted slowly. She took in a deep breath catching the sweet smell of sunflowers. The rich soil of the earth underneath her face and hands. Rolling to her back Jane saw the sun on a semi cloudy day. The sight brought a smile to her lips. Sitting up in the sunflower field she felt so much at home. She knew this place; it was part of her ranch. Heat brushed along her arm. Turning her head she was face to face with a tiger. His heavy body brushed along her own again. Confusion crossed her face. This wasn't a tiger she knew. His large head pushed against her shoulder playfully. Her smile returned as she scooted closer. Unafraid of his larger form. The eyes were a blend of green and gold. The green framed the golden specks in the eyes. She brushed her hand down the brush of white. It was not her beast. This one wasn't one Jane had ever seen, it was certainly not Adam's.
The sky turned from the bright shinning blue to black. The night fell in an instant. Stars sparkling like diamonds across the dark sky. The moon overhead was full, but she didn't feel the need to shift. In fact she couldn't feel her beast at all. Staring up at the moon without the pull from it to change shapes, Jane felt strange. She wanted to shift. That’s not what happened. A bird flew across the moon. Large bird. Not an eagle, something else. White. The screech of an owl. Standing Jane headed in the direction of the bird. The tiger brushed along her legs. She wanted to stay with it. Felt compelled to be at its side. That part of herself, that primal part that was connected to her beast. The owl called out for Jane again. She stared up at the sky watching the owl. Looking to the tiger again she saw her own beast next to it. A part of Jane felt complete now. Her beast felt whole now. It didn’t match up in her mind.
The owl called out again. Jane set off running to follow it. Her feet barely hitting the ground. Suddenly she found herself in the cemetery. The owl hopped onto a statue of an angel. The angel held a scythe. The same kind that was often pictured with a grim reaper. Jane stared at it till the sounds of club music caused her to look around. Finally upwards. Red haze above her. People moving a seductive motion. The strobe lights of what she recalled was Bliss. A flash of those unforgettable red doors. It was all above her.
Wind blew past her face. Jane turned watching the Owl fly into the open doorway. Jane hurried to catch up. Past the doors, and there she was. His shocking white hair, his body resting on the lazy-boy. The bear run by the fire place. Everything. Then it all went white.
Scarlet was fanning Jane's face. Her tiny wrinkled hand pressed to Jane's forehead. "Did you see what you needed to?" Asked the older woman. Jane nodded. Money was removed from her pant pocket to place in the older woman's hand. "Thank ya darlin'." No need for anything else, Jane was grabbing her hat and rushing out the doors. Her shirt was half undone, her hair wild. She looked shaken, but determined. She didn't understand about the whole Tiger part but everything else afterwards was enough for her to know where Bucky lived and how to get into his crypt.
