The vineyard where the pack house was located was far enough away from town that it gave him time to make some necessary phone calls. The hush in the interior of the Impala he was driving was almost enough to make him go crazy if he didn't distract himself somehow. Pale tattooed hands gripped the wheel as he made his way onto the main road, tension making that muscle in his jaw twitch slightly as he reached the console to punch in the controls that would allow him to hear his calls over the cars speaker system.
"Dial Elena." The first order was given and the number for his Geri was dialed.
"Elena, this is Ash......." He waited to hear what she already had to say about the subject before continuing.
"The official story here is that she's taken Lydia to Salem to finish her training there without distraction. I've decided that the best thing I can do is send Memphis after them just to make sure......." Elena spoke and Ash was almost tempted to laugh. The girl knew her best friend well.
"Exactly. What I'd like your help with is getting some things here settled while Silent is gone. The new wolf Murphy needs some help, and Silent has been telling me about another wolf pup name Miki....or something close to that. Can you do me a favor and keep an eye on them until Silent gets back?" The conversation was wrapped up pretty quickly. Ash made sure Elena knew how to reach the new wolves so that she could contact them. He would check in on them as well, but they would no doubt be best off with a female to help guide them.
"Dial Lexie" The second command was stated and the phone rang to Lexie's call.
"Lex. Ash here. Silent is out of town training one of the wolves right now, and she needs some help keeping the Hookah stable and open while she's gone. Think you'd be willing to step in and lend a hand?" As Lexie spoke Ash simple nodded while driving, as though the woman could actually see the motions of agreement. "Yeah, that'd be great. Barbie's been doing the paperwork so feel free to contact her at the Rodere House if you need any help. And I'm here of course if you need me."
Luckily he had pretty well trained the pack out of saying goodbye's so none of them got offended when he simply ended the call with a dead phone line. Turning East onto one of the through ways he started heading towards the Piazza that Memphis had been seen at most recently. Ash would search through all the bars in the city if that was what it took, but he was betting it wouldn't be that hard. Memphis was a creature of habit if ever he'd met one.
"Dial Vinny." Third command, and another phone call made.
"Oy, Vin. Silent and Lydia went back to Salem to finish training. I know you're in semi-retirement for awhile between letting go of Tush and picking up something else so I was hoping you'd be able to look after the asylum? Help with the contractors and getting things moving while she's away. Carnivale will be there so you shouldn't have too much to do." Ash heard the mans muffled but enthusiastic response. "Cheers mate."
"Dial Dina." This time when the phone rang it went straight to a voicemail and he wasn't sure if it would be Arcya or Dina who would first give it a listen.
"Dina, Ash here. Hello Aryca if you're listening. I just wanted to let you know that your mom's going to be unavailable for awhile, but if you need anything you can call me. Or write." Ash paused not really knowing what else to say. "I miss you spark plug. Be good."
That time hanging up was just a little bit more difficult. Ash wished that he could take the kid. If Dina could have stayed with him in Hawai'i then he would have let her. Would in fact have loved to have had her. Part of him was still a bit resentful at the entire situation that child was in, but he knew that it wasn't his place to mess with Lydia and the way she wanted her daughter raised. Punching the button one more time as he turned into a parking space he gave his last command.
"Dial (insert number here)" Silent had given him the contact information for Mikaela so he could find her, but he didn't have it programmed in yet. As it rang he waited and then finally left a message.
"Mikaela, this is Ash Redfern. I'd like very much if you could come to our home tonight to meet with someone who'd very much like to talk to you while Silent is on vacation. Please be there."
Cutting the engine he shut down the call and pulled the keys from the ignition. That was the last call needed. As he moved towards the bar he put his cell on silent and slipped it into his pocket. Time to convince a drowning man to grab a life vest. And so Ash went inside to find Memphis.
Mikaela felt stupid. Not only was it because she missed Silent like hell and wished she would come home so she would stop making mistakes at the Hookah and pissing off Vasha, but also it was because her cellphone died. So she was stuck at cell place that was NOT like Verizon Wireless in the States. Which sucks. THREE HOURS she was stuck while the cell techs tried and at least get texts she missed or what not. All she wanted was Silent's number for her new phone and luckily the transfer of her address book worked. Whew. So the Blackberry Bold was new BUT getting used to a Blackberry period was something else. Just when she was about to leave the Tech called her over and told her he was able to retrieve a voicemail. It was Male one she did not recognize....
"Mikaela, this is Ash Redfern. I'd like very much if you could come to our home tonight to meet with someone who'd very much like to talk to you while Silent is on vacation. Please be there."
Oopsie. FUCK! She asked that he get the number from calls received and she wrote it down. DAMNIT! She was probably good as on the Ulfric's dead list. Silent was goign to kill her and kick her ass. She only hoped what has happened with her phone this past month will get her away from being dead. She quickly dialed his number and welcomed to get voicemail.
"Ulfric.....I owe you a deep apology. My phone died. I could only get a low percentage of a full battery so I was unable to dial, text or anything and I just now gotten your message. Cell technology is not like Canada and the States here. It was something I hadn't planned on happening. As for directions to the packhouse, I can be there as soon as possible. Or the Asylum I know how to get there. Again I am deeply sorry for not responding quickly. I am deeply sorry."
