-=*Doot doot doot. What's a girl to do when you're all cooped up in a brand new place. Murphy bent down and tugged up the edge of her bright green and brown striped socks and then took a few quick steps and slid across part of the wood floor in her room. It was oddly pleasing, that sense of floating over the ground. You were just never too old to slide around in your socks. Wide lips pulled back in a smile that showed those oversized horsey teeth. When she caught sight of herself in the mirror her smile faded, but only a few watts.*=-
-=*The night before had been rough. Wasn't every day you had an incident in a bar where you almost bite off a womans hand. Just thinking about it made something inside her shudder slightly. Having that lack of control made her feel a little queasy. She climbed onto the foot of the bed and pulled her legs up to sit indian style on the comforter. After a second sitting there in the quiet of her room she fell back on the bed, laying there with her legs folded.*=-
"Ok Murph. You're in a new place, with lots of new people. But you've got your class, you've got your style. Thing's are gonna get better after awhile."
-=*She made the words fall into rhythmic rhyme as she gave herself a pep talk. Eyes closed and she draped a forearm over her face to further block out the light. Breathing deeply she tried to make herself relax. Ever since that first full moon she'd been so damn twitchy. It was like she had a lightning rob shoved up her butt. Lightly the fingers of her right hand strumed at the air just over the flat surface of her bare stomach. Her guitar, Colleen, had been left behind. The Ulfric, oh he of infinite wisdom, had promised to get it for her. In the meantime she felt distinctly alone.*=-
-=*Moments like these she just wanted to hunt down Joan and give her a good tongue lashing, and not the fun kind either. That woman had ditched her in Rome. And because of her she was now in the middle of this hot mess. But she knew even in her head that complaining never hurt anybody. It was time to meet the locals, and find out if any of them were smart enough to know how good lox and bagels were for breakfast.*=-
-=*Tumbling off the bed in a gangly way her sock covered feet slipped against the ground and she moved in an almost ice skating slide towards the door before hopping as she lifted one leg to pull off that stripped sock. One down then the other and both were tossed back on the bed before she opened the door to head downstairs towards the kitchen. Already her beast was pacing, stomach grumbling with hunger. Even if there were no lox she'd be happy with a bagel. Clambering down the stairs she was dressed simply in mens boxer shorts and a black cut off top that showed the smooth flatness of her stomach and the angel wings tattooes from her groin out to cover her hips.*=-
Bare feet were curled beneath her in a chair at the table. One hand curled around a mug of tea, the other tracing under the lines of text on the front page of the newspaper. A faint line formed between her brows whilst she attempted to decipher the words. At least it was easier than trying to decipher rapid Italian speech. Mug was released as she reached for a slice of toast topped with grape jelly.
The sound of someone clambering down the stairs and the scent that wasn’t immediately recognized piqued her interest. Rather than go to investigate, she waited, calmly putting her toast down and picking up her tea to cradle between both hands. When the woman came in sight, customary smirk was already curled on the vixen’s lips. Emerald eyes studied her over the rim of her mug, locking that scent into her memory as she did with every member of the pack.
“Morning, pet. There’s coffee in the pot and the kettle’s still warm. Help yourself.” That accent of hers was reminiscent of the Ulfric’s, marking her as another Brit. A hand moved, motioning to the cabinet that held the mugs, just in case the woman did want coffee or tea with her breakfast.
Lexi, too, still wore her pajamas – black silk panties and a matching tank – with her russet-colored silk robe over it in case she needed to cover up for those who were easily distracted. Once again she took up her toast, finishing it off in a few bites and wiping her fingers off on a napkin.
Freeing a foot, she pushed the chair next to her out, inviting the girl to join her. “I’m Lexi, by the way. Who might you be?”
-=*First Elena, the Llidya, now this one. It seemed it was now her destiny to live in the company of the world's most beautiful women. She came up short when she entered the kitchen, slowly that frenetic motion that had carried her downstairs. Wide brown eyes looking over the other woman. For a moment she thought something strange was going on with her senses and her head tipped to one side like a curious dog.*=-
"You're not, errr uhhh, what are you?"
-=*What a way to start a conversation. Murphy nodded at the offer of coffee but went for the tea instead. She'd been told to make herself at home after all. When she took the offered cup from the fox their fingers brushed against eachother and Murphy had a moment to think about how soft the other womans skin was before she moved towards the stove to pour out a cup of hot tea. Setting the mug on the counter she moved towards the refridgerator in search of a lemon.*=-
"I'm Murphy."
-=*She responded to the question with her face lost in the fridge and her butt sticking out in the air. Long elegant artist's hands shuffled through the items in the crisper until she came out with a lemon and could carry it to the cutting board. Grabbing a knife from a door she started to slice it into thin rounds, two of which she slipped into the mug of hot tea before going to join Lexie at the table.*=-
"So Lex, tell me. what do you think of this place? The Urfarc and stuff. How does all this work?"
-=*She was sure she said Ulfric wrong, but could you blame her? Who came up with these words? It was like trying to read one of those wiccan books for preteens where all the words are trying to look pompous. Stretching out in the offered chair she leaned down into it, long lanky limbs stretched out to rest the soles of her feet against one of the other chairs as she cupped the hot mug carefully in both hands.*=-
The door to the back was pushed open and Llidya stepped into the kitchen, giving the two a nod. That trademark Chapman smirk haunted her lips as she moved within the space, remembering what had been said about greetings, she leaned over to give Lexi a brush to the cheek, but didn't actually touch as she was sure Lexi didn't want her sweat all over her. Lexi was the Hati, whatever that meant. It was something Llidya was gonna find out now, she decided. Chapman patted a hand on Murphy's shoulder as she moved past, the scar there in the palm apparent. It was about two inches long, and had a matching counterpart on the back of it. The wolf of Llidya's moved within the room and settled in between Murphy's animal and Lexi's fox, glad for the company.
She was decked out in her boots and working jeans, which meant there were grease and oil stains all down the thighs, and she only had on a white wife beater to cover her torso. Llidya had only recently become comfortable wearing such a shirt, as it revealed a lot of her own scars she liked to keep hidden most of the time. There were a myriad of shapes in the collection, from bullets to knives to fires oh my. The most prominent one was the one on her right arm, her most recent. It was on both sides of her forearm, and was about a foot long from where she'd been nailed to a tree with a bowie knife...but that was another story. The only tattoo that might've been seen would have barely peaked through in the small space between her jeans and wife beater, and all that could be seen was a splash of color.
There were plenty of dark grey and black smears on the wife beater as well, not all of it grease. A lot of it was grime and soot from the fire damage that had been done to her car. She had a sheen of perspiration over her flesh along with a nice layer of fine dirt. Her fiery red hair was pulled back into it's customary French braid, and there were a few strands that had escaped her hold. Llidya had decided to go at her car first thing this morning to take out some aggression. It wasn't working too well, but it was keeping her distracted for the most part. But now she wanted to cook.
"Hey Murph, Lexi...you hungry?" She asked the two, starting to pull down pans and ingredients from the cabinet. That lady, Mama, she could cook good southern homestyle, but as they were in Italy, Llidya wanted some Italian. And when in Rome...
She pulled out the meat she'd bought the day before. Today she was going to start the bolognese sauce and make some tordelli to actually eat. Llidya moved to the sink and started scrubbing at her hands and arms to get all the crap off her flesh before she sunk her hands into the food. She'd told Bianca she was going to cook up something so she hoped she'd join her soon. She could give her something to do.
"Oh yeah. Here." Llidya pulled the flyer from the movie star thing from her back pocket and set it on the table. There was a boot print on the front, but the text was easily readable in the light through the mark. "Check that out. Me and Rad B were gonna go see what it was about if you guys wanted to join. Looks like fun. I gotta tell Leni and Vinny about it too." She told the two, before moving back to the counter to find her set of Wusthof knives and to pull out the cutting board. Llidya thought back to Murphy's question when she had entered the kitchen, which reminded Llidya about her own, and she smiled.
"It's Uul-frick, Murph. It's the title for the leader of the pack of the Crimson Snow." Llidya glanced over her shoulder to Lexi as she posed her next question. The knives had been found and her hands had set to work to expertly chopping up the vegetables faster than the eye could see, and well, Llidya wasn't looking anyway. "But yeah Lexi, I got a question. What exactly is a Hati, Skoll, Bolverk, Freki and Geri?" She glanced to Murphy to explain her question. "Which are positions in the pack, Lexi is Hati, Vinny is Skoll, no one's Bolverk," Not since Loke had to go to Tibet anyway, "Memphis is Freki and Leni's Geri."
-=*Humming lightly under her breath she kept her eyes on Lexie until the door opened and Llidya joined them in the kitchen. This was turning out to be a real lively joint, and she was already wondering how many people were hiding in the wings. She lifted the steaming mug of tea to her lips to take a sip and feeling it burn it's way down her throat. Too hot definetly too hot.*=-
"And Loopa. The Ul-freck told me to go see his Lupa at this place called --"
-=*One hand released the mug to look at the back of her hand where she had written down the words Midnight Hookah in black ink.*=-
"Midnight Hookah. It sounds like somewhere for stoners from Amsterdam to clean out before they hit the trains home. Problem is I don't know what a Loopa is anyway, even if I saw one in the flesh. Does it ---even---you know--have flesh?"
-=*Crap she hoped so. Since leaving the ranks of the supernaturally challenged she had been discovering that there were all kinds of odd things out there. This Lupa thing for all she knew could be some kind of undead boogey man. Though the way the Ulfric had said it implied some kind of humanity. I mean after all certainly celestial beings couldn't own bars right? Much less Hookah bars? With the smell of Lidya cooking on the air she was growing drowsy in her cozy seat. Hooded brown eyes turned to Lexie again awaiting the womans answres to these curious questions.*=-
Laughter bubbled up, being released in a chuckle at the question of what she was. “I’m a fox, luv.” A wink was sent toward Murphy. It was so much fun when a word could have more than one meaning. Llidya’s entrance pulled her attention away from Murphy for a moment, long enough to give a return greeting to the other wolf.
Head tilted, and a finger pulled the flyer closer so that she could read it. Movie extras, eh? It might be fun. The paper was slid toward Murph once she’d finished reading it. “Sounds like it might be fun.”
Ah, and here came questions for her. Well, at least they weren’t hard to answer. A slight nod was given, agreement with Llid’s correction about the Ulfric. “To put it simply, Ash makes the rules and we follow them so that he doesn’t eat us.” A glance was sent Llid’s way as she thought over how to answer her question.
“Well… this is what I’ve come up with to explain it, so don’t be surprised if it’s a little wrong. Freki and Geri, they’re like lieutenants of a sort. Second- and third-in-command, you could say. Bolverk is the pack’s boogeyman, in charge of punishments. Skoll and Hati, we’re the Ulfric’s bodyguards.” A slight shrug as she took a sip of her tea. There was probably a whole bunch of mumbo-jumbo about what the positions really meant, but her explanation was simple and easy to follow.
Gaze turned back to Murphy at the mention of Lupa and she had to laugh at the worried sound of the woman’s voice. “Oh, luv, Silent most assuredly has flesh.” It took a moment to stifle the chortling, but once she did, she was able to explain. “Lupa is the name for the Ulfric’s mate. For us, that’s Silent and she owns the Hookah. If you like, I’ll go down there with you and get you introduced.”
She was just full of helpfulness today, wasn’t she?
::Well, she heard them listing titles and all. It was only fair Bianca throw out one of her own. Her voice boomed through the kitchen the same way it would have through a club or an arena. Granted, she hadn't been in one for a good long while, but it didn't mean Radical B was going to let the pipes rust. So every little chance she got to use them, she did just that. Flashing everyone gathered a dazling smile of ruby red lips and bright white teeth, Bianca herself strutted, yes strutted, into the kitchen. Leather pants creaking softly with each step. New leather needed time to be broken in, or for the person wearing them not to feel like their legs were being chocked, but they made her ass look Good with a capital G O O D.
Blue green eyes flashed as she glanced around from Big Red whom she knew, and gave a friendly wave to, to the other two new faces. Looking at Murphy, Bianca's gaze narrowed slightly as her beast took notice of another wolf. Her teeth bared she promptly marked the ground where she stood as hers. Never too early to establish the pecking order and all that. The fox though? Made Bianca blink and then her grin grew wider as she regarded the woman. The smell of cooking meat and sause was heavy on the air...was the fox desert?
Forcing herself to look away Bianca sauntered up to the counter in the middle of the kitchen and slapped her hands on the marble slab, glancing between the two women as she caught the rest of the conversation of Lupas and their job description. And she couldn't help herself as she snorted slightly and perched her tight rear on one of the bar stools that lined up next to the island.
"For now anyway...positions change all the time you know. Challanges, people run away, shit happens. Speaking of shit happening, hey Big Red how's the car comming."
Formalities out of the way Bianca now could relax. And pester Llidya about hurring the hell up and changing because Radical B wanted to get to the auditions before every other Skanzilla in Rome had a chance. Seriously, when would people learn cleavage did not equal talent. But that could wait a few minutes. For now, she sat up straight and smiled sweetly at both women (desert or not). "Hiya. I'm Bianca."
Llidya turned back to her cooking, nodding as she listened to Lexi's words. She tucked them away for something to look into further with Elena later. After she told her and Vinny about the flyer for the movie audition thing to. When she explained what the Lupa was, that something that was missing clicked into place. Comments that Silent had made now made sense, and a smile slid across her face. So she wasn't just calling herself loopy. Well, the nick name was going to stick anyway.
Radical B's voice boomed through the kitchen then and Llidya glanced over to her, lifting her hand in a wave. A brow rose at her choice of attire, and Llidya just shook her head, holding back a laugh as she mentioned challenges. Then she jabbed at Llidya about her car, and Chapman gave her a playful glare.
"Gettin' there. You're gonna help right?" At the look on Rad B's face, Llidya chuckled. She looked back to the vegetables she'd been chopping and cupped them to drop them in the bit pot she had pulled down. Llidya moved around Bianca to get at the fridge for the celery she needed to add.
"Also known as Radical B, as so named by Loke, whom you haven't met yet. She's a cool bitch. She's in Tibet for a bit." Llidya told Murphy, moving back to chop up the celery, her Bahamas-clear water blues looking down to Bianca as she started chopping up the celery. It was the last bit she could do before she set the whole mix to cook slowly for a couple of hours. "I'm almost done. I'll hit the showers and then we can go. I told Murphy and Lexi about it, they might want to come too." Llidya indicated the two of them with her santoku knife before she went back to mincing. Another glance was given to Bianca. "And I can't even imagine how you managed to get into those pants." A shake of her head was given.
-=*Looking over the flyer she gave a noncommital shrug of her slender shoulders. Acting wasn't really her thing, she was mostly a pretty low key person if she could manage. She'd lived with enough Village Queens and performance artists in alphabet city to know that being in the spotlight wasn't always best. Letting the flyer fall back to the table her attention returned to Lexie, and the way the woman talked about the Lupa's flesh made her instantly more curious. As Alice would have said curiouser and curiouser and that was how she felt since the full moon a month ago. Just like she'd fallen ass first down the rabbit hole.*=-
"Sounds nifty. I can dig it. Every tribe has to have a cheif, and every chief needs a little help now and then. I'm just glad to see there are women in the ranks."
-=*That fact bought the Ulfric a few extra gold stars in her books. As for the fox in their midst, Murphy would be sure to treat the woman with respect. A fox who could make it several years in a group of wolves and hold rank among them had to be one tough as nails bitch. Even if she did look particularly delicious in her underwear. A fact which wasn't lost on Murphy in that moment.*=-
-=*When the new red head came in guns blazing Murphy just stayed in that same relaxed pose at the table with Lexie, legs outstretched, cup of tea in her hand. Whatever dominance games she was trying to play were lost on Murphy. Point one for being a new lycanthrope, you don't realize what crazy dominating freaks they are. Her own beast was so contented with the company of the fox and the other wolf that it barely lifted it's muzzle. In her experience the people who showed that much bravado all the time were usually hiding something deeper. Some of the most able and confident people were usually the quiet ones. Another gold star for the Ulfric she'd met. Mr Man of Few Words. Attention turned once again to Lexie.*=-
"I was thinking I'd go up to Midnight Hookah later on today. You want to meet me over there? Maybe we can have a few drinks and check out a few art galleries or something."
-=*When Bianca belatedly introduced herself Murphy lifted a hand from the mug of tea and gave a little wave.*=-
"I'm Murphy. And damn Lidya whatever you are cooking in that kitchen smells wicked."
-=*Her stomach was rumbling and making a fuss. She still wasn't used to this new metabolism. Even human she'd eaten enough for two and stayed slender. Genetics. Now she was beginning to think she'd have to carry around an emergency dozen donuts in her messenger bag. Finishing off her tea she let her feet drop from the chair in front of her, toes wiggling a bit to get the feeling back in them.*=-
