Gift to Ash

Tino dug out the so called gifts from Silent and packaged them up nice and neat with a note placed inside.  Handing it off to Sam to deliver it directly into the recipients hand, he sighed softly and left his home to feast.

Ash,

I know that we are not on the best of terms, and I have kept away from Silent, because she is your mate, and I do not enjoy the games she is playing with the strings of your heart.  Being a mate is something serious, deep and unbreakable, not something you throw away when you get bored or distracted; but you are an intelligent man, and I know I have no need to explain this to you.

These were sent to my home today, as a gift from your mate.  I have not spoken to her since you asked me to bring her here, and have tried to respect your wishes to stay away from your wolves, but one in particular visits because we have a mutual interest in Liliyana.  I will not touch her, nor would do so out of respect to your words.

Perhaps it is time to have a talk with your mate and make her see that sending gifts behind her soul mate's back is not exactly up to par and it makes me feel as if I have wronged you myself.

Deepest regards,

Valentino.

It was a day of gifts. the damn things were coming out of the woodworks. Jane's letter and the opera tickets made him smile as he sat back in the seat at his office desk looking at the letter she had sent. Little things like that let him know that he and Jane would be alright one day. Some of her heated approaches had stilled, and they were becoming friends in a way he'd hoped for a long time. Things like that never happened quickly between people who had history, but it was possible. There was hope for them.

When Silent's gift arrived his expression darkened. Not with anger, but rather with that dark knowledge of what the gift signified. The corners of his generous mouth curled into one of those rarely viewed smiles as a dark light filled his eyes. Leaning forward again in his chair he set aside the tickets from Jane to pull Silent's gift towards him. Her scent was all over it and he closed his eyes and drew it in, mind already working on what the other gift could be. Ash pushed back his chair to stand, taking hold of the first aid kit in long pale fingers. Whatever the gift was he was ready to use that kit.

It was then that the gift from Tino was eyed. He'd almost been able to forget the man had sent something. Not quite. Brows drew together in a torn expression as he set down the first aid kit once again to reach for the package. Unwrapping the delicate paper he looked at the flower stems and two blossoms that were wrapped up inside. At first his brows drew in tighter together, unsure what the hell was wrong with Tino that he was sending Ash stems. Then he plucked the letter from inside and began to read the mans words.

Deep in his darkly tainted soul he felt a sort of hate creep up on him. Even though the vampire was telling him what had happened he couldn't help but hate the man. Hate the man because every woman Ash had ever loved seemed drawn to him. A fact which was bound to get old after awhile. Somehow he was convinced that it was all done on purpose. After all, it was just too big a coincidence otherwise. Grabbing a loose leaf of paper from the desk he penned a quick response.

Tino,
Maybe it's time you and I had a talk.
Ash

It was as simple a letter as you could get, but it was true. When it came to politics you couldn't avoid someone simply because you didn't like them. As much as Ash wished that Tino was Marcus, that wishing was never going to make it so. Grabbing up the wrapped stems rather than the first aid kit he would leave the pack house to head for the asylum. As for the letter he sent it off with Damon to be delivered to the man himself.
