Library Use

The library was one of the last remainders of the twentieth century. The one in Honolulu was no different, with her yawning aisles that seemed to stretch into eternity with the knowledge and imaginations of hundreds if not thousands of writers. Sure, the internet was fun, but to really research a subject, you had to dig, and no matter how many times the Techs at the Marshal's office told Titus that you could find anything on the internet, he still came to this quiet church of the the near arcane.
Titus had quietly walled himself away from civilization in a corner of the law section. The sheer weight of law could be felt when you passed through those near icy corridors. Only those steadfast enough and with a firm understanding of the system could walk the treacherous paths of the volumes of books on law. However, he knew it would have a nearly tomb-like quietness to it's rows and could give him peace.
Originally, he had come in to research Hawaiian folklore. He found it important to understand a culture, especially one as diverse as the South Pacific's. Each island had a slightly different version of roughly the same story, with the same characters. The Kupua and their mischievious ways seemed to be a mainstay in teaching lessons, much like Aesop used animals to teach his. The four gods; Kane, Kanaloa, Lu, and Lono each had their stories to tell, and amazingly seemed to tell the same stories of Grecian and even Egyptian mythologies.
Of course, that was what he originally came to do. He had abandoned that after roughly four hours of research and had found an old copy of the infamous Treasure Island, one of his favorite novels when he was a kid and to be honest, still held the test of time. The chapters were small and the story as rich as you made it.
Titus had nestled into a deep chair and was nearly halfway through it as he stopped and looked around. The sun had peered through the westside of the library, casting those ancient books and tomes in an orange light with dust particles dancing around like will o' wisps in the beams of light. He knew the place would be closing soon, but had decided he wasn't going to leave until he was drug out. Much like the never ending story, he was enjoying a good book. Of course, it wasn't raining and a giant-ass dog dragon wasn't coming to get him either...
