John frowned, looking at his purchases. The futon was cool and it gave Venna somewhere else to rest her head other than his couch. And hey, he had tried to tell her she could take the bed, but Venna had insisted the couch was fine which was why he bought the futon instead.


No, the futon here was not the problem. The ‘ Other Purchases’ were the problem. John sat down, staring down the Other Purchases like it was high noon on Hawaii. He sucked at verbal communication, or really, any type of communication. And comforting. John was pretty bad when it came to being touchy-feely. It just wasn’t him.


John looked at Purchase Number One: the ROSE AND CHAMPAGNE BASKET

The basket was embellished with a black jewelry box which was shaped like a lady’s bag, a Pink Terry Cloth Bath Pillow, White Sparkle Picture Frame, Black Sparkle Picture Frame, 2 Champagne flutes, 2 Champagne bottles (of Bubble Bath), 2 Body Wash Puffs, 2 sets Pink Bath Fizz Tablets, and a box of Rose Petal Soap (each petal of each rose is a petal of soap) -- in a sturdy, mesh basket with handles and was also reusable.


John then looked at Purchase Number Two: the FOOT SPA BASKET

This particular basket was filled with a Bath & Body Works® Floral Body Sponge (in box), a Plush Picture Frame, Spa® Body Butter and Bath Soak, Champagne Bubble Bath, Loofah Bar, Back Scrubber (in box), Terry Cloth Massager, Foot Soap, and exclusive "Sambuca® " Cup and Saucer Candle, - also in a large, sturdy, re-usable, white woven basket.


Purchase Number Three: A DOLPHIN STUFFED ANIMAL

Nothing fancy about it. John just thought it looked kind of cool.

John had carefully wrapped up the baskets together and put the dolphin in the center, writing something down on a little note card. It read:


To Mahina:


There were various phrases and little notes that had been scribbled out in the middle. In the end, John scrawled:
 

Betty’s wrong about you. You’re not boring. You’re beautiful.

P.S. Sorry I’m not from England.


John sighed, then gave the package over to the delivery guy and watched him go. He went and got himself a Molsons, praying to God Mahina liked it.

Mahina this morning went for a run, not really ready to test the waves yet. On her way back she grabbed the new weekly edition of the Tattler and sighed when she read it. Tossing it in the trash and walked the rest of the way home. She gave her best shot, was sincere and honest to be subject to Betty's bashing and lost. Oh well, Mahina pretty much decided days ago to seclude herself from the public and more personally from Men in general. Her words really took a toll and Mahina didn't know why. Congrads to John.

Pretty much down and just dark clouds hanging over the usual sunshine head of the hawaiian. She never should have written that damned letter. Coming up the driveway she collected what was in the mailbox and there was a box laying down by the pole. She lifted it and saw it was addressed to her. Strange for she didn't remember ordering anything. Heading inside the pacjhouse, she laid the mail on the kitchen counter and proceeded upstairs to her room. Box placed on the bed to lift the tape and see what was inside.

Each basket was pulled out and inspected. Such a beautiful arrangements and everything in them smelled so good and just was perfect. The cool looking dolphin was collected and hugged to her chest, whoever sent this...knew her fetish for dolphins and it won a true hearted smile. When she looked back inside there was a card......reading :

"To  Mahina:

Betty’s wrong about you. You’re not boring. You’re beautiful.

She sat down and reread it a second time when tears flowed down her cheeks. It was just what she needed to see/hear at the time. So it touched her heart. Watery eyes scanned the items a second time now knowing who sent it. It truly touched her, to have come from someone who gets her so riled. Shelooks out for John not because it's her job as a sponsor. She wants to do it because she truly cares for everyone in pack. And that included John. But to know he felt that she wasn't boring came from the one person she thought would believe Betty and her thing for guys from England was obviously just a fantasy. She laid down her bed, hugging the dolphin and thinking on how to repay John back with something just as nice and a idea came to mind! Calling Keanu so to make a trip out to the Mall.
