Lillian had been in the hospital for two weeks. Two weeks in which she did not move. Did not eat. Did not wake. The blonde was sedated to such an extreme that only the worst of her dreams would breathe consciousness into the small woman. It was then the living world greeted those bright blue eyes for a shining moment until the pain and drugs swallowed her whole again. Thus when the night of the full moon arrived she hadn't the faintest idea that beautiful tiger with jade eyes would save her. She had no idea that just on the other side of her eyelids her famed Janey was pulling the numerous tubes and shit out of her arms. But! When the drugs ceased to pump the needed morphine into her veins, Lillian woke up. It was a drug-induced state that allowed her to be fuzzy enough to not comprehend what was going on; allowed the pain to be only a fraction of what her body felt. There was something else beneath the muscles and tendons. There was that jade eyed tiger prowling in this frail human frame. It pawed at Lillian's inside much like a kitty would with cat nip dangled within reach. The metaphysical pawing had the youngest Bradshaw screaming at such a pitch. It was here that Jane covered her mouth... They were still not safe. But for only a little bit longer.
A little bit longer and the pair were deep within the jungle. The wind hit Lillian's face and caused her naked skin to scream. It pained her to be moved; pained her to have the humidity to cling to her small, hospital gown-covered frame. Lillian stirred slightly, those bright blues opening. She mumbled something along the lines of what's going on? and something about Gideon. Who was Gideon? The sisters stopped and then there was that jade tiger begging to be released. Begging to shed this human skin. Begging to dance in the human world and no longer be confined to this metaphysical cage. It scratched and pawed at Lillian - urging another blood chilling scream from the smallest Bradshaw. This time she was fully awake. The effects of the drug still had her eyesight a bit unclear, but for the most part Lils was awake. The pain of her burns subsided to the pain of the tiger trap within. She stared at Jane, wide-eyed and wondering what. the. fuck. to do. But nothing would come out.. If she opened her mouth a horrible scream would replace those parted lips. Another scratch - this time more powerful than ever before. It caused her back to bow into the most delicate shape of an arch. Not so delicate, however, was how rough the jade eyed tiger was treating her small body. Lili stared at Jane, wondering what the hell to do.
But somehow, staring into the eyes of her sister - those of Aztec gold - soothed her some. She stared and stared, waiting to be helped. And when that help was provided... Lillian's frail human body gave in. The marred skin no longer in tact but replaced with the jade eyed tiger from her dreams. Coat of black and orange with green eyes so intense they were almost iridescent. And thus... Lillian was a tiger.
It was the night of the full moon. The nurses knew that Jane would stay with her sister tonight as she did every night. If they knew Jane was infected or not it didn't show. The click of the heavy door. Gideon was in the bed next to Lillian. Jane stood to lock the door. It was something she did every night. The nurses had Lili's IV bags filled, and there was enough morphine to last through out the night. No need for them to come in. It was perfect.
Gideon would be first. His tubes removed, and the sheet tucked around his body. The window was on the first floor, towards the back, again perfect. Jane had to get these two out of here before they shifted. The truck was set up, with an air mattress for Lili and Gideon. The glass was pulled open and tossing the man over her shoulder in a fireman's carry was nearly the most hardest thing for Jane. He was a big man, and even if she could bench press a Buick, it wasn't an easy task to climb out the window and secure him to the bed of the truck.
Lili was next. Jane stared down at her sister. The tubes in her arm. The heart monitor was gone, since they knew she'd be fine. Still it pained Jane more than anything to see her this way. The tubes were removed. It took a lot for Jane to carefully remove them. She wanted so much just to rip the room apart. To throw all her anger into the machines. The needles slipped out of those pencil thin arms. Wrapping Lil in the hospital blanket as well. She was easier to carry out of the room. The window was closed when Jane finished. She set Lili next to Gideon. Even though he was out cold, his warmth would ease Lili's pain.
Lili wasn't human anymore. Was it right for Jane to take that from her sister? Did she do the right thing? Jane hadn't been given a choice. She had been brutally attacked. The memory of it was hazy. Blood she saw, blood across her eyes. Her face had been ripped open, her stomach torn apart. Most had thought her dead. There was too much to repair from a single attack. Her body fought and so did the will to live. The tiger that infected Jane was killed. What was left was a set of eyes the color of Aztec Gold staring at her in her dreams. She wondered if that was the same for Lillian.
The drive to an open spot was long. Though she knew that Lillian and Gideon would be fine. Why did Jane bring him along? In all honesty, it was because of Lili. She had mumbled his name in her sleep. Jane also knew the man was like them, though with three different beasts. How did he change? Did they take turns? Better not think about that Janey.
When she finally got there. This secluded spot, she first carried Gideon and set him on the ground, then Lili. By now, she was starting to wake. This was going to be the worst pain she's ever felt in her life. Jane remembered her first shift. It hurt worse than anything. She hated not being able to do anything about that. This was something Lili had to do. For the tiger to survive to grow. It needed to break through that human flesh and take its shape.
Those blue eyes staring at her, helpless. The tiger was fighting for release. Jane knew. She couldn't do anything about it. Silently, Jane was praying. Praying for her sister to hang in there. Not to fight it. In time she'll love being a tiger. In time Lillian would accept that part of herself. The same way her sweetness and openness had accepted Jane's tiger, even before Jane learned to accept herself.
Deathlike silence, Red cloud shakes. The race that walls imortality. The undying battle of extinction, Who would believe in sanctuary. Weapons of lead are post historic, Life is yeilded on to sour ground. A desert shell is designated, A warning to you both man and beast... Gideon was too out of it to realize much of what was happening, except the pain registering when someone pulled the IVs out of the veins, leaving a burning sensation there. A low groan given as he suddenly felt light weight, body moving on its own accord. There was no thought, just feeling like he was having an out of body experience. Grunting softly as he felt coolness on his bare stomach, he watched the three beasts stare him down, each one vibrating with the need of their imminant release.
They all felt Lili next to him. Felt her cool body nestled up against his, the beasts growing impatient though freezing at feeling a cub they are not sure of. The Bangal rises up and pads slowly over to the jade eyed beast, circling it slowly, nose low to the ground, scenting. It smelled like Lili, but it knew that Lili was human. Confusion wracked its brain as it nuzzled the femme gently, laying down next to it protectively.
Gideon's pain was growing by leaps and bounds. His shift was never pleasent, always violent as the three fought for dominance on who was going to win and be the main shift. Yes, each animal would form in the shift, causing Gideon to face three, possibly four shifts in a night, depending on which one won out in the end. A cry erupted from Gideon's chapped lips as he fought the beasts on his own, arm spasming to come to rest over Lili's mid section, instinctfully drawing her closer in a protective embrace while they would wait the eventual shift.
Maybe one day, he'd be like them... and accept himself. Eden hardly a tranquill place . The prophecy lears its hateful face. The warheads like lightning strike again and again, Seperating the land from the beast and man. Suvivors will rise from strength and brain. The skulls of rivals lay in rows on the sand, The seeds of breeding swallow the waste Creating more for the next war.
