The smells of the coffee shop enfolded her where she sat in the corner booth, alone. Papers were spread out before her, the notes for her last exam this week. Why, one might ask, was she studying in a coffee shop rather than at home? Quite simply, she needed the rich smell of coffee to keep her awake. After falling asleep studying on one of her visits to Milo and Barbie, she was determined not to let the same thing happen again. Here, at least, she had a steady supply of coffee, and though she had to pay for it eventually, it would be well worth it if she was able to pass this exam. Auburn waves were pulled back in a severe ponytail, keeping them out of the way of her chocolate brown eyes. Teeth nibbled at her bottom lip as she puzzled over one of the exam prep questions. Styrofoam cup was lifted to take a sip of the caramel macchiato. At this rate, she would be able to taste everything served in this shop. As the cup was set down, she reached for the espresso brownie sitting on its little square of napkin. Caffiene upon caffeine, the staple of every college student. A faint smile was offered to the cute waiter as he passed by, but she quickly turned her attention back to studying to avoid the advances he might make. Sideways glance at the slim cell phone by her elbow. Luckily, her brothers had not pressed her to talk to them about the news they'd dropped in her lap. That was a blessing, but also a curse. It meant that she had not spoken of it to anyone and it was slowly eating her up inside. She'd hoped to catch Patsy while she was home, but so far, had been unsuccessful. Of course, she'd left a note for the leopard queen, telling her that she'd gone to study at the coffee shop and even including the address. A hint, perhaps. Legs were stretched out beneath the table, the denim rubbing against her flesh before she pulled them up onto the seat with her. Left hand moved to tug the blue cotton shirt back down over the tops of her jeans. Foot wiggled underneath her, making it seem as though she was bouncing in her seat. All hail the effects of caffiene. __________________
