As the new girl in town -- or, more aptly put, the new freak in town, Frost was well aware that the name of her game had to be 'catch up,' and 'stay caught up,' if she was going to fit in with Hawai'i's RPIT force. So far, so good. She had liked what she'd seen of Detective Redfern in their brief encounter. He had been no-nonsense, and better yet, he hadn't asked a multitude of questions that had nothing to do with the cases she would be jumping in on. It wasn't that she had anything to hide, she just preferred to throw herself into the deep end of the freezing pool feet first, and deal with pleasantries later.

That was why, when Redfern had given her a call with the information he had obtained (she hadn't bothered asking how -- a tip was a tip, and an order was an order), she had been zipping through the folder he'd given her, bringing herself up to speed. The Human's First case had, admittedly, been more interesting for her to comb through. That had more to do with her personal dislike of the group that Pennsylvania's incumbent Senator had praised and supported, even after he'd figured out what she was (and she had no doubt that he had). She hadn't even asked a single question as he'd given her his instructions. Used to the chain of command within the force by that point, she'd simply written the information down and had let him know she was on it.

Promptly, at 0800, she had been at the station, coffee con espresso in hand, waiting to go in with the bomb squad. The coffee was more habit than an attempt to warm herself up. She was used to its ineffectuality when it came to that end, by that point. Her standard issue weapon was tucked neatly into her shoulder holster, though she could have sworn it had fit differently the last time she'd worn it. Even so, the minimal irritation of its position had faded by the time she was done with the caffeinated beverage.

The team had set off, first to the first location she had written down. Though the cop in her was chomping at the bit to get right in there, she knew well enough to let the bomb squad do their job. So she let them go in first, in case there was a live bomb, and God forbid it go off when it shouldn't, right? But that didn't stop her from carefully observing the scene. A bakery, for God's sake. Of course, she knew that Humans First wasn't the most rational group out there, so what didn't make sense to her probably made a world of sense to them.

When the bomb squad had emerged and given her the 'okay' to enter, she had breathed a sigh of relief. One of the members escorted her in so that she could look around, and then showed her to and pointed out the locations where the bombs had been found. Every step she took was documented, for her own records. She was nothing, if not extremely thorough. Once she'd felt she had a good handle on the scene at hand, she had tagged and bagged what she needed to bring back for evidence. The evidence would be crucial. Once she could go over each bomb, compare them from each location, she would try to establish a pattern. That, above all else, was what Charity Carmichael did best.

She followed the team to the next location, making notes to herself as she surveyed the scene, one that wasn't so unlike the first. Of course, they were geared towards completely different interests, but that was just the superficial layer. The biggest commonality was obviously the fact that neither owner was 'just' human. Actually, one of them wasn't even alive, but .. then. The undead were citizens, just like the rest of the freaks. But Charity had to wonder. What did Humans First stand to gain? To make a statement, yes. That was obvious, as was the need for destruction, but -- and though she wasn't fully up to speed -- she would have felt comfortable assuming that the escalation had been much quicker than she would have thought.

After combing through this second scene, and managing to catch the owner of the establishment herself, she requested and scheduled an interview with Natalia. Keeping her personal opinions to herself, about vampires in general, she made note to get ahold of the first owner as well. The witch. Or was it warlock? She had no idea.

The one thing that bothered her, that she couldn't figure out, besides what she'd already noted, was the location of each. Humans First hadn't just gone after a freak's place in the back woods. Both locations were highly populated, and more, touristy. The wrong person in the wrong place .. she didn't know if that was deliberate or not, but. Charity Carmichael would have been damned if she didn't find out.

Once both scenes had been secured, she tugged her phone out of her pocket and dialed the office, hoping to get ahold of Ash. Getting his voicemail, she mentioned that she had secured enough evidence from the crime scenes and would be returning with it shortly. She clearly had a long day ahead of her: Finish going over the first file he'd given her, try and find the connections, or some other clue, examine the evidence, and try and outplay the perp behind this whole mess.

[Apologies for the delay -- work attacked me.]
