Back in Salem Memphis had made a promise to her one night. Kota had been thinking more and more about that recently. Wanting to make him make good on those words. They had ben out in the woods, looking up at the stars, enjoying a moment together. He saw things she did not, and wanted to share it with her. "One day We will grab a telescope and I will show you the stars how I see them" It had been a moment that Kota had been waiting for, for so long. A sense that thee was hope for a happier life in the future.
That had been months ago, back in Salem in the thick of pines and smell of autumn in the air. While waiting on some things to come in from France, she had been doing some shopping here in Hawaii. Looking for just the right thing for her man.. Sure he was a big lug, and he did not take hints very well. Memphis was the kind of man you had to paint it in big red letters on the side of the water tower before he would get it. She loved him for that, even if sometimes she wished he was a little more sentimental... Girls like flowers every now and then. Or candy. Even Kota who was not the normal average woman.
The gifts were left in their room... the note set in the paws of a huge Husky/Wolf Stuffed animal.
I don't know how many ways thee are to say I love you.
I have never been very good at letting people in.
Or even trusting any one enough to share my feelings with.
You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.
My life was very empty before the Pack made me family.
But you filled in the missing pieces of my heart that had been broken a long time ago.
I love you. So... why don't you show me those stars now,... they way you see them.
Love you always.
Dakota.
Wrapped in brought shiney wrapping paper with clovers all over it with a little card that said. Play with me latter.
It had a huge red bow on it and a tag that said."Show me the stars"
Last but not least was a 1875 bottle of cognac with nothing but a plain label with a date and the name Walter Hicks on it.
