(Faithmun was having trouble posting this so I am putting it up for her) ((board wouldn't let this post, and resistance was futile))
Boredom known by any other name was still boredom. Spelled B O R Daiumn I have nothing to do and for once I'm not enjoying it. Faith stared at her office monitor with the look of great tranquility. If one looked close enough they would see the dust settling ever so gently on her womanly shoulders. The blinking cursor light at the end of the sentence held the most hypnotic quality that you don't realize has affected you till you find yourself staring of at nothing for hours...or even minutes on end. With a light shake of her head Faith sat up straighter in her chair, sighing as she flexed her now stiff shoulders. Now people might wonder how she could be busy with two deadlines, appointments and rewrites in the que. But the answer was oh so very simple. She just was. Bored. B O R Daiumn, etc etc. After spinning in her seat so that Faith could peek around the edge of the small cublcie wall that corralled her desk and the clutter atop of it, she looked slowly left and then right. No one approached. All was quiet on the western front and it was her time to strike. Or make a phone call, the time to strike just seemed like a more fun thing to think.
Reaching inside her all consuming purse, Faith took a minute or ten to fish around the bag's various contents till she found it. It, the holly object, it that shall not be named for the fear of a plan change that would enslave her to this thing for yet another year. Thank you corporate America, and would all of you kindly kiss....Back to the topic at hand. Faith watched the little wheel as she gently rolled her thumb over the smooth sphere, letting the software scroll through the contact numbers till Faith saw the one she wanted and pressed call. Faith watched the little modern magic well at work, as lights flashed, bells rang, somewhere in the sky a satellite made a tiny course adjustment. It was all so much more simpler than that, but it was still fun to fantasize as Faith held the phone pressed between her ear and shoulder while she counted the rings. One....Two....Three.....Voice mail kicked in. Lovely.
Voice mail was one of those necessary evils in the world, and Faith was very good at making the best use out of them. Letting her voice drop an octave or two, till it was something low and sultry, preferable not a smoker's voice, as she spoke.
Hey Shane. Hope you're not doing anything bad that's keeping you from answering my call. Because if that's the case I can't think of a more suitable punishment than for you to go with me to the grand reopening of Beautiful Agonies. The name alone is worth the trip, and if thats not enough, Just think...you, me...cup cakes. What do you say, cupcake? You know where to reach me.
With a rather satisfied smile, Faith clicked her cell phone shut and groaned as she stretched against the back of her chair. Thank god or what ever invisible deity that created ergonomically designed back supports. Aside from chocolate chocolate ice-cream. Mmmm. Icecream.
-At the moment when the call had come in Shane was in the alleyway behind the local sushi bar, her Jeep backed into the slim space so that she could haul Gianni's body into the back space. Hefting his body off her shoulder she was none too gentle with it as she tossed him in, reaching for her phone to try to stop herself from missing the call, but sometimes even she just wasn't quick enough. So as she stalked around to the drivers seat of her Wrangler she punched in the code to get her voicemail. When she heard Faiths voice, and calling her cupcake no less it had those glossy lips curling into a cunning smile that flashed the barest edge of fangs. Yes, in her own sick and twisted way she liked this Faith, and would very much like to talk her right out of her clothes sometime soon. Returning the call she got Faiths voicemail. A roaring game of phone tag.-
"Faith. That idea sssoundsss perfect. If I wasn't so busy tonight I would bring cupcakes to your place and make you wear the iccccing. But I sssuppossse I can sssettle for waiting until this weekend. Beautiful Agonies had better look out. You'll be breaking hearts no doubt. I'll call you back to get a day and time together."
-Hanging up she set the phone on the passenger seat and glanced back, depthless black eyes looking at the passed out body in her back seat. Poor boy, had no idea what hell he was in for. Shane was ecstatic. A date with Faith and her fun with this boy tonight. It was better than Christmas!-
