I go out walking, After midnight looking for...?
Permalink Closed

Had been a wonderful afternoon and the evening had only gotten better. Drinks by the pool in the best of company. There was so much going on, the conversations just ran over so many topics. Outed, wolves smelling a lie no matter how small. Go figure. Kota was so used to hiding what she was. Boston was not a friendly place and New York had been even worse. She would have never said the big N word had it not been for Memphis speaking up and calling her on it.  Only fair when the people around you had come out and made you feel welcome... even letting you know what they were on the first meeting.
Memphis Wolf Famous Margaritas, Black and Tans and Rum on pebbles for Sil. Two new friends... Evie and Memphis, both rather interesting people. Kota would have to do a little digging on what Evie was, not to get in to the girls life but just to understand more a new kind of person. The woman was so uptight at times and then she was right as rain. Defiantly someone Kota wanted to get to know better! One week in Salem and she felt like she was at home, no one got that freaked out look on their face when Dakota fessed up she was a VoodDoo Queen of the highest caliber. Well No one but Evie and that was more astonishment than fright.
But soon the skittish one ran up, Ash and Sil all happy about planing a vacation crawling the stairs together left Kota out by the pool a little longer. Kidnapping his fedora, tossing back a few drinks and a walk to the guest house had ended the night on a fine note. This place gave off a aura of something long since dead but still clinging to the very earth. It was in the trees, in the grass, whispered on the wind but it could never be pinpointed. Problem was it made it very hard to sleep. Shower had washed the days wear from the body, heated water killing the tension that knotted up along the shoulders creeping for the base of the skull.
Use of so many tools to remedy the sleepless condition, but to no aveal. Kota ended up kicking the covers of her body and slipping in to her jeans. Sneakers in place of boots and just a T-shirt and her light weight jacket to fight back the chill even summer nights in New England could produce. The door clicked shut abandoning her lithe frame to be embraced by the night. The nocturnal caress of wind slid its whispering fingers though her hair kicking up the mass of wavy tresses in to a fairy dance. She did not want to trespass any where on the property that would cause any problems, Just a stole to push though that last little bit of endurance from her system... if that was possible.
The guest house was still in sight, at lest the faint glow in the window was visible but the out line had been eaten away by the darkness. Kota had made it a slow progression, show had been kicked of with the strings ties together dangling from her fingers. The grass felt cool, thick under her bare feet, like a living shag carpet. Eyes turned north to the heavens, liquid pools of melted violets in awe at the view over head.  Effortlessly her body glided to the ground, stretching out over the summer green. Communing with nature, guess this is what you could call it. Arms folded under her head to be used as a pillow.
"How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a dream; or whether we are awake..... If it could only be that simple"
Plato...
